Dear Hart District Families:
With the utmost respect for the safety of students and staff, and with the desire to comply with the most recent health orders, we are postponing all 2020 summer camps. While we were hopeful to start on Monday, July 6th, we are still awaiting Return to School Protocols from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH) and guidance for the 2020-2021 athletic season from the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). DPH is scheduled to issue orders this week, CIF is scheduled to release 2020-2021 guidelines July 20th, and new health orders from the State were issued today. After meeting with representatives from all school sites that compose the Foothill League, it was unanimously agreed that postponing summer camps makes sense due to the changing conditions with COVID-19 and the upcoming orders. The District and our League will continue to develop procedures and protocols within these guidelines, which will assist us in determining the ultimate feasibility of summer camps.
We are still hopeful that we may be able to hold camps later this summer. In the coming days, we will provide updates both on the status of camps and of refunds for any fees already received. Should we be able to hold camps, prorated refunds will be issued (as applicable). Otherwise, we will inform you how full refunds will be provided.
We recognize this news may be disappointing - and we apologize for the timeline for communicating this news. We are responding to conditions as they develop. We agree that summer camp activities are outstanding opportunities for students to grow and develop. However, with today’s revised health order, it seems prudent to postpone our summer activities until we have a more complete picture of the steps we need to take to keep our students and staff members safe.
Thank you for your patience as we take precautions to keep everybody safe. We appreciate your support for athletics and all extracurricular activities in the Hart District.
