Hello and Welcome to Basic Algebra.
COURSE INTRODUCTION
Algebra 1st and 2nd Years are two-semester classes. This course presents a formal approach to the development of Algebra skills and concepts necessary for students to meet the Algebra graduation requirement. While many students have an apprehension with many mathematical practices, they are encouraged to persevere and develop the necessary skills which will create confidence in learning.
Developing an understanding of mathematics is critical to success in the world today. This course is aligned with the California State Mathematics Standards and designed to prepare the student for higher level courses needed to fulfill high school graduation requirements.
MATERIALS
It is highly recommended that students own a calculator that they bring to class and use for homework assignments. Students must bring the following supplies to class every day: a 3 ring notebook with paper (for Algebra work only!) and several sharpened pencils (not pen.
