GENERAL
The first day of AFJROTC is Friday the 16t h (TODAY) and the bus will leave at 12.35.
CLASS CHANGES: Students may pick up a class change form TODAY, August 16. Students must pick up the green class change form in the Counseling Office during BRUNCH, LUNCH, BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL ONLY!!! Counselors will review each student’s request, approve or deny it, and then return the form to the student with the appropriate action marked. The following are the ONLY reasons for class changes: 1. Already received credit for the class. 2. Lack pre-requisite. 3. Lack necessary skills (note from teacher required to be attached.) 4. Adding or dropping an athletic team (note from coach required). 5. Adding a class for credit. 6. Dropping an elective to add a student service class. All other reasons will be denied. DO NOT REQUEST A TEACHER CHANGE OR A BRUNCH CHANGE! Forms must be turned in by TODAY--August 16.
CANYON’S very own Econ teacher Mr. Smith will have his new release WINGER available for signing and purchase at the first Summer Meltdown fundraiser of the year at the Valencia Barnes and Noble Book fair on Friday, August 23 from 4-7pm. Meet local authors, and help raise funds for YES I CAN!
TEXTBOOK CENTER: Textbook Damage Forms are due by Friday, Sept 6th. Drop them in the blue crates in the library or textbook center. If you have lost yours from registration see Mrs. Kulesz to get another. Don’t get stuck paying for someone else’s damage, return your form.
Come join us for the ISM dance on Friday dressed out to support your favorite sports team!
**Be advised that a modified dress code will be in effect for the dance. Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through, backless, swim suit tops and strapless shirts are not allowed. Modified/torn clothing that reveals excessive skin or undergarments are not allowed. Short shorts are also not allowed
**Acceptable attire must remain ON and may not be removed/modified during the dance.
**Dress code offenders will be given alternative clothing options at the door and/or may be removed from the dance.
**ISM is from 8-11 p.m. and being held on the Football field. Cost is $20
ROP Classes begin August 19th: Students taking an ROP class this semester need to stop by the ROP office to pick up your enrollment for the first day of class.
ROP Open Classes: We still have openings in the following ROP classes - Career Internship, Business Essentials, Construction Technology, Event Planning, Entertainment, Financial Essentials, Infant/Toddler Care, Interior Design, Plumbing, School Age Child Care, and Virtual Enterprise. For more information or to sign up, stop by the ROP office.
ROP: Learn about a career field by taking the ROP Career Internship class this Fall. Students complete an unpaid internship at a local business and earn class credit while gaining career experience. The class starts on Sept. 9 and there is still time to sign up. The class is available to students 16 and older. See your ROP Specialist or the ROP website (www.hartrop.com) for details. Applications must be turned into your ROP Specialist by 8/28.
MEETINGS/SPORTS
MANDATORY GIRLS GOLF MEETING at lunch in room H-1, TODAY.
BOYS' BASKETBALL TRYOUTS will take place Monday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 21 after school in the main gym from 3-4. If you have any questions please stop by G-208 and speak with Coach De Long.
GIRLS' SOCCER TRYOUTS will take place August 19, 20 & 21 from 3:30 - 5:00 at Sierra Vista. If you have any questions please see the website or stop by G-202 and speak with Coach Rusk.
CROSS COUNTRY: Any student wishing to join the cross country team, see Coach Broneer on the track Thursday or Friday after school, or see Coach DeLong in room G205.
TRYOUTS FOR GIRLS TENNIS is on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th, 3.15 pm at the tennis courts. Please bring your own racket.
STAFF
CLASS CHANGES: Please do not send students to the Counseling Office for a class change during class time. The process is for them to complete the green form that they can pick up during both brunches and lunch, and return the completed form to the Counseling Office during those same times. Friday, August 16, is the last day for them to submit the form. Thank you for your cooperation with this procedure.
