Need some extra help in English?  Go see Mrs. Bentley in C-1 on Tuesday before school beginning at 7:00!  The quarter is almost over, so she can help you with any of your English questions! 

DON’T FORGET TO TURN IN YOUR PROM SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION to Mrs. Ruppert in the office. Current 11^th and 12^th grade Canyon Students may apply.  Pick up an application from Mrs. Ruppert in the Main Office, and return the application by March 20.  The winners will receive a prom bid for two persons to attend Canyon’s Prom, A Tale as Old as Time, on April 20^th..  (Prize valued at $200). 

FOOD DAY is Wednesday, March 20.  Bring money to support your CHS Clubs!!!

PROM TICKETS GO ON SALE TODAY FOR SENIOR FUN PACK HOLDERS!!!  $200 per couple w/ASB card, $210 w/out.  All paperwork MUST be filled out in full.  Be ready to sign up for your Promenade room when you buy your tickets.  If you want to be in a room with your friends, sign up with them!  Tickets for all Juniors and Seniors go on sale Wednesday, March 20 for $200 w/ASB and

JAZZ POP:  Are you looking for a fun night of music? Come to Canyon's Jazz Pop Concert on March 22nd and 23rd at 7:30 in the main gym featuring all of the choirs, the Jazz Ensemble, and some great solo acts. Come and hear some of your favorite love songs from the 1940s to today.  Tickets are on sale now in the choir room for $7.00 for adults and students without an ASB card; students with an ASB card are $5.  See you there! 

SAFE RIDES NEEDS DRIVERS - NOW! 

*A great way to get community service hours is volunteering at Safe Rides.

*There will be training for new volunteers Saturday MARCH 23rd at NOON.

ATTENTION ALL DFYIT MEMBERS.  Next Wednesday March 20th at 6:00pm at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons is the program called Teen Scene Plugged-IN.  If you bring an adult to the event and wear your DFYIT Tshirt, you will earn 2 hours of community service.  Hope to see you there on Wednesday March 20th.  Any questions?  Please see Ms. Krumrich

DRESS CODE VIOLATION:  Have you been recently asked to change your shirt due to a dress code violation?  Did Canyon Administration give you a Canyon t-shirt to wear for the day?  If so, please remember to wash and return the Canyon t-shirt to the Student Responsibility Center (SRC) to get your original shirt back.  You have 10 days to return for the Canyon  t-shirt and pick up your original shirt.  Canyon High School is not responsible for articles of clothing left in the SRC after 10 days. 

ASVAB TESTING:  Canyon will be hosting the ASVAB test on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.  The test will be given in the B-Lecture Hall starting at 8:00 am.  Taking the ASVAB while in high school is the only time students can take the ASVAB as a skills and vocational assessment test.  The test is available for sophomores, juniors and seniors.  If you are looking to find your academic strengths, possible future career options or are interested in exploring the military, this is a great time to take advantage of this FREE opportunity on our campus.  Please sign-up in the counseling office ASAP to reserve your spot, as spaces are limited.  The LAST day to sign up will be Friday, March 22, 2013.

Becoming a College of the Canyons Student Workshop

March 18, 2013, during lunch in A Lecture Hall

An Outreach & School Relations representative from College of the Canyons will be on our campus to conduct a workshop focusing on preparing students to understand the steps needed to become a College of the Canyons student. 

By attending the workshop, students will find out how to successfully:

Apply for the summer and fall terms

Earn an early registration date

Prepare for the English & math placement test

Meet with a counselor

Register & pay for classes

And much more!

 This workshop is open to all graduating seniors and students interested in concurrent enrollment.*

*Concurrent enrollment provides 11th and 12th grade high school students the opportunity to enroll in COC courses.  Students can earn college units while satisfying A-G requirements.  

DO YOU ENJOY designing, writing, math, physics, construction, and art? If the answer is yes, you might want to learn more about careers in the Engineering and Design Industry!  Join us in the library at lunch on March 28th to hear about some opportunities available through COC to prepare for a career in Engineering and Design. Stop by the library to check out the architectural models on display. Program attendees may have the opportunity to earn extra credit for attending. (The library tables will be closed at lunch on the 28th for the presentation; be sure to make other study plans that day.)
