GENERAL

 

CONGRATULATIONS:  On Saturday, April 16th the Canyon Color Guard took home the silver medal in Championships. The Championships competition took place in Huntington Beach and the girls competed against teams from all over Southern California. Good job ladies!

 

AWARDS BANQUET IS NEXT WEEK!  If you earned a 3.5 or higher grade point average for Fall Semester 2010, you should have received an invitation to the Spring Academic Awards Banquet to be held on Wednesday, April 27.  Deadline to turn in the RSVP to the Assistant Principal’s Office and purchase dinner tickets from ASB is FRIDAY, APRIL 22.   No tickets will be sold at the door.  Please contact Mrs. Hayes-Rennels in the AP Office if you have any questions.

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO the Drum Line who finished their first competitive season on Saturday with a score of 81.95.   They finished 13th in their division and narrowly missed State Championships by a point.  Good Job on a Great Season!!!

DO GLEEKS GO TO COLLEGE?  US Performing Arts Camp is a network of summer programs for students in the Performing Arts.  They offer 17 intensive workshops and these Media Camps will be at universities across the nation.  For example UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television, offering programs in musical theater, theater, digital program, animation, improv, sit com acting, writing and producing, and dance taught by UCLA's exceptional staff.   Pepperdine University will be having digital film workshops taught by acclaimed USC School of the Cinematic Arts faculty.   ALSO, Pepperdine will be having an ALL NEW GLEE Camp in Malibu this summer!  ALSO if 4 students from Canyon will attend any of these workshops anywhere in the US, Canyon will receive $100 per student for our drama or music program.  more info?  www.usperformingarts.com   or call 888.497.3533  (one brochure is in the Counseling Office)

 

 

 

STUDENT TALENT RALLY:  The Student Talent Rally is May13!  If you want to be in it, the sign-up sheets are outside of ASB.  Deadline to sign-up is April 25.  Auditions to be in the Rally will start on April 27.  So come and show off your talent.

 

TRI-M ARTS WEEK will be April 25-29. Please come support your fellow classmates in their performances each day of the week at lunch. Prepare to be dazzled by the Jazz Ensemble, Madrigals, Improv team and Visual Arts! Stay "Tuned" for more information!

 

COWBOYS, we need your blood.  The last blood drive of the year is on Thursday, April 28.  Sign up in G-105.  Thank you for saving a life. 

SENIORS

 

HEY SENIOR COWBOYS:  Have you enjoyed your years at Canyon?  Will you be hard to forget?  Apply for the Canyon Staff Scholarship in room G-105 or the counseling office.

 

CSF SEALBEARERS:  The list of 2011 Sealbearers is now posted outside room C8.  If your name is on the list, you are eligible to apply for one of the $500 scholarships being offered by our CSF chapter.  Pick up a scholarship application in room C8--at lunch only--any day this week.  Completed applications are due back to C8 no later than Wednesday, April 27.

 

SENIOR SPEAKER FOR GRADUATION:  Any Senior wishing to audition for Senior Speaker for Graduation should sign up in Assistant Principals Office and pick up a speech/audition information sheet.  Please do this as soon as possible.  Audition sigh-ups will end on May 9.  Auditions are on the morning of May 11.  Sign up early to get the audition time of your choice!  If you have any questions, please see

SENIORS: There is a $250 scholarship for a student that has taken Automotive ROP.  Please stop by the counseling office for an application.

 

ATTENTION OPERATION US SENIORS: If you would like to purchase black and gold Operation US cords for graduation please see Ms. Mast in E3.  Cords are $7.  The order will be placed Friday April 22. 

 

SENIORS:  There is a $1500 scholarship for a student who has a parent/guardian that is a government worker (police officer, teacher, firefighter, postal employee, military, any federal, state, or local government worker).  If you have at least a 3.0 GPA, please stop by the counseling office to pick up an application.

 

SENIORS: There is a $5000 scholarship for a senior with asthma that has at least a 3.5 GPA.  You must have also received at least one award in one of the following categories:  dance, music, theater, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film, community service, athletics, or science.   Please pick up an application in the counseling office.
