GENERAL
PROGRAM CHANGES TIME SCHEDULE: If you received your schedule and it is wrong, you may come to the Counseling Office during the following dates and times to make changes:
December 11, 12, & 15-- during lunch and from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. December 16, 17, & 18 --from 12:15 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. No changes will be made via email or by phone and no changes will be made during brunch.
ALL STUDENTS: Never leave valuable items unattended anywhere on this campus. This includes your personal belongings like your backpacks, purses, wallets, electronic devices and ID cards. Additionally, never leave unattended anything that you are responsible for such as your textbooks, calculators, and other materials loaned out to you from the school. You are financially responsible for replacement of stolen items if left unattended.
UNA MAS: Attention all students—Go to UNA MAS TODAY and say Canyon ASB and 50% of your purchase goes to Canyon ASB. Come out and support your school from 5-9 p.m. at UNA MAS next to the new Rattlers and the big Wal-Mart.
NO STUDENT SUMMONS DURING FINAL EXAMS: STUDENTS please note, there are NO student summons delivered during Final Exams. Please do not call your parents and ask them to excuse you early for any reason. The Attendance Office WILL NOT deliver student summons during Final Exams to remove you from class. All students need to stay during the entire final exam period out of respect for all the other classes in exams.
KEY CLUB EVENT: Attention ALL Key Clubbers!! If you are not attending Fall Rally and would like to volunteer at the New Leash on Life animal shelter, then you must attend the orientation this Saturday. Please go to V-1 for more information.
ALL 9TH GRADE HONORS ENGLISH STUDENTS must come to C7 before school, at brunch or lunch TODAY or Friday to pick up their mandatory winter reading assignment. If you do not have this assignment with you and completed on the first day of second semester, you will be considered for removal from the program.
ROP: ANY STUDENT WHO HAS SIGNED UP FOR AN ROP CLASS STARTING IN JAN. 09 MUST SEE MRS. OKRONICK IN HER OFFICE ASAP TO PICK UP ENROLLMENT PAPERS.
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES: Students interested in getting a job for spring semester need to come to the Counseling Office info center to pick up an application. Earn $8.50 an hour, work up to 120 hours over a 12-week period, and participate in job skills workshops. Available to teens 14-18 years old who are involved in Special Ed programs, live in a low-income home, or have low grades. Please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office for more information.
HEY JUNIORS AND SENIORS!!! Can you write an awesome essay about developing a Historic Preservation Plan for your community?? If so, you could receive a $5,000 scholarship to the university of your choice. BOOK CLUB! Our last meeting of the semester will be this Friday, Dec. 12 at lunch in H1. It was decided that we will read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott over the winter break. See you Friday.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: Winter Formal is January 31st at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now!! $50 with ASB card and $60 without. Guest passes will only be accepted before the winter break. Ticket prices go up when we come back from break too! Paperwork is available outside the ASB office. Buy your tickets today!!
THEATRE AUDITIONS: Be a part of this year's Shakespeare Festival where Hart District students perform both Shakespeare and modern scenes in a two-day festival! Auditions will be Tuesday at 2:15 for those who don't have a 7th period and 3:15 for those who do. All rehearsals take place after school, during lunch, or on weekends. For more info, see Ms. K in the theatre.
SPRING SCHEDULES: You will receive a copy of your tentative spring schedule on Thursday, Dec.11th. You will be able to see your counselor from Dec. 11th through the 18th, if there are problems with your schedule. There will be no program changes when we return on Jan. 12th! Ü
SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY: Remember to come to our dance lessons TODAY at 3:00 in room AA-1.

GROUNDHOG JOB SHADOWING DAY APPLICATION DEADLINE: Attention Juniors and Seniors: Don't forget to drop off your Groundhog Job Shadowing Applications in the Career Center by Tuesday, December 16! Students may pick up and drop off applications in the Career Center through Tuesday, December 16.
