The PSAT offers 10th and 11th grade students an opportunity to prepare for the SAT (scholastic aptitude test), which is used to determine eligibility at all Cal State, UC and almost all private colleges and universities across the nation.
For 11th grade students the results of the PSAT determine eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship. www.nationalmerit.org
Get ready!!!
You may pick up an Official Student Guide to the PSAT in the counseling office or Career Center and/or you may also go to www.collegeboard.com/psat for sample questions and practice test answer explanations.
Night before the test
Make sure you get a restful night of sleep
Day of test
Have a good breakfast
Wear comfortable clothing (You will be sitting in the same seat for 4 to 5 hours)
Bring:
• Two #2 pencils and a good eraser
• Approved calculator (scientific or graphic calculator is recommended)
   o No cell phone calculators, PDA’s, computers or any other type of hand held   
      electronic device will be allowed.
• Optional
   o Social Security number
   o Email address
