GENERAL
HEALTH OFFICE: When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office. It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home. DO NOT CALL OR TEXT your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office.
SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE ONLINE: Canyon High School’s summer school will be on the Golden Valley High School campus this year. Summer school registration forms are now available on Canyon’s website. Please go to www.canyonhighcowboys.org. Under News and Announcements, click on Summer School 2015 and print out the registration packet. Completed forms need to be returned to the summer school basket in the front office reception area at Canyon.
BLOOD DRIVE: Attention, the blood drive is back! We are having our last blood drive on April 23rd. This will be the last blood drive of the year. Donate blood to the UCLA medical center and get a free movie ticket and food. Save a life with your donation. Sign up during brunch and lunch in Mr. Cuny’s room – C6.
ON THURSDAY, APRIL 30th the Counseling Department will take a field trip to the National College Fair in Pasadena. There will be over 300 colleges attending! This trip is open to sophomores with a GPA of 2.5 and above. Unfortunately, juniors are testing on that day so they won't be able to attend. However, the fair will repeat in the evening. Please consider attending at night from 6:00-9:00 pm.
College fairs are an easy way for you to learn about and compare a variety of colleges all in one day. You get to meet representatives from the colleges, and more importantly, they get to meet you! Colleges keep track of your visits to their campus, your requests for information, or visits to their booths at the college fair. They are more likely to accept a student that has shown a real interest in their school.
If you are interested in attending the fair, please pick up a field trip form from Mrs. Hettema, the counseling secretary. To pay for the bus, we are requesting a $10 donation fee, but entrance into the college Fair is FREE!
IF YOU HAVEN’T HEARD there is a new class here at Canyon, AP Art History! It counts as Fine Art credit, A-G requirement AND AP credit! There is no drawing or painting involved. We study the art and architecture created from all over the world. Tell your counselor you want this exciting new class!!!
ATTENTION ATHLETES --who want to participate in the CHS summer camps. Registration packets are now available in the ASB office and the front office. Please complete ASAP if you want to participate.
