GENERAL

Attention all 10th graders and any junior or senior who hasn’t passed one or both sections of the CAHSEE!

CAHSEE testing will be Tuesday March 17 and Wednesday March 18.  We will have a special bell schedule those days.  Please visit the CHS website to see the bell schedule.

Students taking the CAHSEE will receive an invitation letting them know where to go to take the test.  The invitations will be sent out March 12.  A reminder invitation will go out the day before the test.

Students taking the test are encouraged to arrive to school at 7:45 am to give them plenty of time to find their testing location.  Test takers should also have a healthy breakfast to fuel their mind and body.

Join SOS for a movie night outside on the grass steps Friday at 7:30.  We will be writing letters to overseas soldiers and following up with an outdoor movie. Come join the fun!!  Everyone is welcome!!

 

NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY will be hosting a drive to support the American Book Drive from March 16-27.  You must donate 3 CD’s, DVD’s, of books that are in fair condition in order to receive one hour of community service.  All items will be collected in room C-1.  Anyone can donate, and there is no hour limit.  Check with your club to confirm using these hours.

A FORMER HART DISTRICT STUDENT who is enrolled in West Point will be on the quad during brunch on Thursday, March 19. to share general academy information and admissions advice. Please be sure to stop by with any questions!

YES I CAN'S annual walk-a-thon will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 on Canyon High's track and field. This year we invite ALL of Canyon high students to participate in the event. Bring your family and friends and help raise funds for Yes I Can's 12th annual Summer Meltdown. Get sponsors or just come out to support Yes I Can. Ask a YES I CANNER or any of your teacher's about getting a sponsor sheet. You can get more information and sponsor sheets from C-3 or G-109.

COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS: Careers on the Go Workshop - Great way for students to find out information directly from professionals in the industry. Fire Technology Thursday, March 19, 20156:00PM-7:30PM -  Valencia Campus - Mentry Hall Room 343. Free and Open to the public!!!

 

CHEMISTRY CLUB will have its yearbook picture taken today in K-5 at lunch. See you there!

 

KEY CLUB is hosting PENNIES FOR PATIENTS for the month of March.  Pennies for Patients is a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Teachers have collection boxes so students can place loose change/money into the boxes.  The teacher that gets the most money wins a donut party for their classes.

 

THE MATH HONOR SOCIETY is holding a fundraiser at Sharky's Woodfired  Mexican Grill at the mall on March 17th. Pick up a flyer at G216 or ask a Math Honor Society member.  Please come out and support math!   Also, senior members don't forget to turn in your graduation cord money no later than March 13.

LMU COLLEGE FIELD TRIP:  The Canyon Counseling Dept. is hosting a field trip to Loyola Marymount University (LMU) on Tuesday, April 14.  The cost is $10 and the bus will leave the school at 8:00am and will return to Canyon at 2:00pm.  Registration is limited to 50 students. For registration forms and more information, please come to the Counseling Office and see Mrs. Hettema or Mrs. Devoe.

ATTENTION 10th and 11th GRADERS!  Are you taking the SAT on May 2?  If so, Tier One Tutors will be offering a series of prep classes to help you succeed on the SAT.  The classes start March 18 and will meet at Canyon High School.  The cost is only $95.  If you are interested, please visit the Counseling Office to pick up a flyer.

CERAMICS CLUB!!!!   Meeting TODAY at LUNCH Room T-3  Must have had Ceramics or currently in Ceramics to be in the club!  

 

BIBLE CLUB--Bible Club hasn't changed time or place.  We will meet Thursday at lunch in the A Lecture Hall.  We'll have great food, great discussion, and great fun!  See you there!

 

FIDM FASHION SHOW CLUB MEETING TODAY in “Q” Theater during lunch.  All new members are welcome and there will be a representative from FIDM.

 

RED CROSS MEETING:  There is a meeting Friday during lunch in room G-219.

 

SPECIAL OLYMPICS:  Interested in volunteer opportunities?  Please come by E-4 to pick up flyers.

PROM SALES FOR SENIOR FUN PACK HOLDERS ONLY-- Mar. 11-13th $200 per couple with an ASB card, $210 per couple w/o. Single tickets are half the couple price.

THE CUBAN-AMERICAN TEACHER’S ASSOCIATION (CATA) is offering a $500 scholarship to a student of Cuban descent interested in continuing their education at the college level. The student must speak Spanish and demonstrate an interest in their cultural heritage. Applications are due April 10, 2015. Please visit the Counseling Office for an application.
