GENERAL

A FORMER HART DISTRICT STUDENT who is enrolled in West Point will be on the quad during brunch on Thursday, March 19. to share general academy information and admissions advice. Please be sure to stop by with any questions!

YES I CAN'S annual walk-a-thon will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 on Canyon High's track and field. This year we invite ALL of Canyon high students to participate in the event. Bring your family and friends and help raise funds for Yes I Can's 12th annual Summer Meltdown. Get sponsors or just come out to support Yes I Can. Ask a YES I CANNER or any of your teacher's about getting a sponsor sheet. You can get more information and sponsor sheets from C-3 or G-109.

 

 

 

KEY CLUB is hosting PENNIES FOR PATIENTS for the month of March.  Pennies for Patients is a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Teachers have collection boxes so students can place loose change/money into the boxes.  The teacher that gets the most money wins a donut party for their classes.

 

THE MATH HONOR SOCIETY is holding a fundraiser at Sharky's Woodfired  Mexican Grill at the mall on March 17th. Pick up a flyer at G216 or ask a Math Honor Society member.  Please come out and support math!   Also, senior members don't forget to turn in your graduation cord money no later than March 13.

 

YES I CAN is having a fundraiser TODAY at I HOP located on Soledad Canyon Road.  It runs from 12:00-9:00 pm..  You will need to present a flyer, the flyers can be found in G109, C3 and the library.

 

AP STUDENTS:  The window to buy AP exams will be March 2 – March 13.  Your AP packet has been given to the first AP teacher of your schedule this semester.  If your only AP class was AP Government last semester, please come to the Counseling Office to pick up your packet. You can purchase your tests at the ASB window once all the forms are completed.  PLEASE NOTE, NO TESTS WILL BE SOLD AFTER MARCH 13 AT 1:00 p.m.

 

ATTENTION 10th and 11th GRADERS!  Are you taking the SAT on May 2?  If so, Tier One Tutors will be offering a series of prep classes to help you succeed on the SAT.  The classes start March 18 and will meet at Canyon High School.  The cost is only $95.  If you are interested, please visit the Counseling Office to pick up a flyer.

MEETINGS

 

Join SOS for a movie night outside on the grass steps Friday at 7:30.  We will be writing letters to overseas soldiers and following up with an outdoor movie. Come join the fun!!  Everyone is welcome!!

ECO-CHICOS environmental club meeting is TODAY at lunch in room G-107.

 

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES is meeting TODAY at lunch in room G-206.

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and Yu-GI-Oh will meet at lunch each Wednesday at lunch in

FIDM FASHION SHOW CLUB MEETING on Thursday, March 12 in “Q” Theater during lunch.  All new members are welcome and there will be a representative from FIDM.

SENIORS


SPEECH SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION:  The Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association is offering three scholarships ($1,000, $750 and $500) to the winning seniors who enter the speech competition. The topic is “Has our country lived up to Lincoln’s call to support the welfare of its veterans?” You will need to submit your written speech by April 1, 2015 to the CHS Counseling Office.  You will be notified if your speech is accepted by April 8.  If your speech is selected, you will participate in the oral competition at West Ranch High School on April 14, in the Theatre/Auditorium. For more information, see the poster inside the Counseling Office or outside in the display case. If you are interested, please sign up on the clipboard in the Counseling Office.
