GENERAL
The BLOOD DRIVE is today! If you signed up to give blood, report to the auxiliary gym at the appointment time on your yellow card. If you did not get your yellow card yet, go to Mr. Cuny's room in C-6 to pick it up. If you still have your paperwork, just bring it with you to the auxiliary gym and you will still be able to donate. Thank you to the over 240 Canyon students who are saving a life today.

Light! Camera! ACTION!! Cowboys! Do you enjoy watching movies? Would you like to learn how to analyze genre, technique, aesthetics and sociological impact of movies? If so, COC is offering a Cinema class that will be held right here at Canyon High starting on Feb 12 and ending May 21. The class will meet on Thursdays from 3:30 pm till 6:50 pm in room C-5. You can earn high school and college credit too. If you're interested, please see your counselor at brunch or lunch to get more information to sign up. Don't wait...the class is filling up fast.
ASB is selling Wooden Roses, for $1 ea. Big variety of colors, economical gift for mom this Valentines Day. Stop by J-1 ASB room to purchase.
VAL-O-GRAMS. Val-O-Grams are on sale NOW! Any choir student can sell one to you. If you are new to Canyon, you might ask what a Val-O-Gram is: On Feb. 12th, the Madrigals will deliver singing telegrams to your friend or significant other. In addition, the Val-O-Gram will include a chocolate candy, a flower and a card. Look for the choir students with a heart that signifies that they are selling the Val-O-Grams. For just $7 you get a song, a card, a flower and some candy plus some great memories! Your friend or significant other will thank you for something so special!
There is a special COLLEGE EXPO for Asian America Pacific Islanders. It is called Journey to Success. It will be at California State University at Northridge (CSUN), which is located at 18111 Nordhoff Street in Northridge. The expo will be in the Northridge Center on March 7th from 8am to 1:30pm. It includes workshops, including financial aid and an interactive Engineering lab. SENIORS
SENIORS. The Chen Foundation Scholarship Program is focused on helping economically-challenged youth fulfill their dreams of obtaining higher education. Students who meet the criteria may receive one of 10, $2000 renewable scholarships. Applications are due March 31, 2015. Please visit:

SENIORS: The Taiwanese American Scholarship Fund is offering 14- $2,500 scholarships to students who meet the criteria. Students must be US citizens AND direct blood descendants of a Taiwanese citizen. Applications are due March 31, 2015. Please visit : www.TAScholarshipFund.org
SENIORS: The Consumers Cooperative Society of Santa Monica, Inc., (CCSSM) is offering $2000 scholarships to high school seniors. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need. Deadline is March 7, 2015. Please visit www.ccssm.org to apply.
SENIORS. The Asian Pacific Fund Scholarship Program administers 12 different scholarship programs, each with unique eligibility criteria. Scholarship amounts range from $20, 000 to $1000. SENIORS: The Santa Clarita Emblem Club #459 will award four $800 scholarships. Two of the scholarships will be awarded to a family member of an Emblem Club or Santa Clarita Elks #2379 member – the other two are open to all seniors. The application is available to you in the Counseling Office. Scholarship application must be postmarked on or before February 15, 2015.
MEETINGS
CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and Yu-GI-Oh will meet at lunch each Wednesday at lunch in G-117. Questions please see Mr. Clark.
BIBLE CLUB--Bible Club hasn't changed time or place. We will meet Thursday at lunch in the A Lecture hall. We'll have great food, great discussion, and great fun! See you there!
SPECIAL OLYMPICS. There will be a Special Olympics Club meeting TODAY in room E-4. Please join us at lunch to find out about volunteer opportunities.
THE CANYON ROLEPLAYING CLUB will be meeting this Friday in room K-3 from 3 to 7pm to play the pathfinder roleplaying game. New players are welcome!
CERAMICS CLUB. The new Ceramics Club meets on Thursday at lunch in room T03. Must have had Ceramics class or currently enrolled in Ceramics to be in the club.
CHRISTIAN ATHLETES. Everyone is welcome to join the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) every Wednesday at lunch in room G206. Bring your friends!
SCIENCE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY. Are you interested in joining the SNHS, but you missed the informational meeting last week? Stop by room G101 to pick up an application. All applications are due February 6th in room G101. No late applications will be accepted. See you then!
ECO CHICOS ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 4th, in room G107 at lunch. All new members are welcome! “Half the world’s tropical and temperate forests are now gone,” according to U.S.EPA, 2009. Please help recycle your paper.”
POKEMON CLUB: Pokemon Club will be taking its yearbook picture next Monday, February 9, bring your favorite Pokemon and trainer pose! We will also talk about the Pokemon Regional VGC Tournament, February 15th.
