GENERAL
PARKING PERMITS: Attention Juniors and Seniors! Parking Permits will go on sale starting Tuesday, January 20th. All the paperwork needs to be completed before purchase.
ROP: Students taking an ROP class need to stop by the ROP office to pick up your pre-enrollment forms. ROP classes start on Tuesday, January 20th.
JAZZ/POP INFORMATIONAL MEETING -- Today at lunch in the A Lecture Hall. If you are interested in being in this year’s exciting Jazz/Pop show, please come to the meeting today. All information will be given out at this meeting. Anyone in the whole school is eligible to participate in Jazz/Pop.
STUDENTS, if you are planning on attending Winter Formal, but have violated the new Attendance Privilege Program by having over 30 tardies or 15 truancies in the fall semester, you must visit the SRC and fill out an appeal as to why you should be able to attend. These appeals will be accepted and reviewed prior to the dance.
If you are on the non-dance list, but would still like to purchase a ticket at the low prices they are right now, you may do so, but those tickets will be held until the appeal is reviewed.
WINTER FORMAL: Date—January 24, 2015 Where—Valencia Hyatt----7-11 pm. Ticket Prices:
Jan. 12- Jan 16--$90 per couple flat rate.
DRESS CODE: Students are reminded about the dress code at Canyon High School. Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through or backless shirts and swim suit tops are NOT ALLOWED! Also, gang styles, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed. T-shirts with graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence or sexual activities are prohibited.
TRACK TRYOUTS: Track tryouts are taking place this week after school.
Meetings
CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION. It’s that time again! All students must reapply to California Scholarship Federation. This semester, CSF membership drive is going digital! All students who believe they are eligible should join the CSF Google Classroom using code 8tvpvl (it is case sensitive). This is how you will submit your membership application. All applications are due by January 23rd. You can go to the CSF page on the library website to start the registration process. If you have questions, see Mrs. Hermelin in the library.
SENIORS: The Santa Clarita Emblem Club #459 will award four $800 scholarships. Two of the scholarships will be awarded to a family member of an Emblem Club or Santa Clarita Elks #2379 member – the other two are open to all seniors. The application is available to you in the Counseling Office. Scholarship application must be postmarked on or before February 15, 2015.
THE BIBLE CLUB will meet this Thursday at lunch in the A Lecture Hall. Come and join some great people, have some very good food and great discussion. Anyone is welcome! Hope to see you there!
CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB meets on Wednesday in room G-117. Bring your lunch. Questions see Mr. Clark in G-117.
CERAMICS CLUB is meeting at LUNCH Room T-3 on Thursday. You must have had Ceramics or currently in Ceramics to be in the club.
OPERATION US: We will be at Fair Oaks on January 29th and February 6th. Please stop by E3 at the start of lunch on Wednesday, 1/14 (or Thursday, 1/15) to pick up your permission slip. Slips will be collected at the start of lunch on Tuesday, 1/20.
PARIS? ROME? Students going to Paris and Rome during Spring break will meet in room D7 this Thursday during lunch.
DFYIT meeting today in A-3 at lunch. All members please attend this important meeting – feel free to bring your lunch with you.

CHEMISTRY CLUB: Will meet on Thursday at lunch in K-3 to examine the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with yeast. This should be “foamily fun.”
