Information will be presented regarding High School graduation requirements, UC/CSU college entrance requirements recruiting and eligibility for Division I, II, III and NAIA.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: Please DO NOT come up to the Counseling Office to try to look at or change your spring semester schedule. Schedules will be handed out next Thursday in your 2nd period class. You will be able to request changes on Thursday or Friday by using the green program change form.”

CANYON THEATRE PRESENTS the hilarious fall play, "The 39 Steps" in the B-Lecture Hall Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 PM. Tickets are $10. For a sneak preview, you can catch the student matinee at 3:15 on Wednesday for $5!
COC COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVE ON CAMPUS: A COC college representative will be on our campus TODAY. You will learn about the admission requirements for summer/fall 2015, certificates and associates degrees, transfer preparation and programs, College Now for high school students, student support services and much more. If you would like to attend the meeting, please sign up in the Counseling Office. The meeting will be held during 4th period in Room H-1.
STUDENTS, if you are planning on attending Winter Formal, but have violated the new Attendance Privilege Program by having over 30 tardies or 15 truancies in the fall semester, you must visit the SRC and fill out an appeal as to why you should be able to attend. These appeals will be accepted and reviewed prior to the dance.
If you are on the non-dance list, but would still like to purchase a ticket at the low prices they are right now, you may do so, but those tickets will be held until the appeal is reviewed.
ATTENTION COWBOYS: Do you have a locker in the locker room for a PE class or athletics? All lockers will need to be emptied and all locks will need to be removed in the Boy's and Girl's Locker rooms by Thursday, Dec. 18 at 1 pm. Our custodial staff will need to clean and sanitize all lockers to ensure they are clean and ready to be used next semester. ---Any locker that isn't emptied or any lock still on the locker will be cut and the clothes will be donated to a shelter. ---Please help us with this very important task. STUDENTS, If you were not able to participate in the "Hour of Code" with your Teachers today, there is an opportunity to go to the Library after school today from 3-4pm to do the "Hour of Code".
NO STUDENT SUMMONS DURING FINAL EXAMS: STUDENTS please note there are NO student summons delivered during Final Exams. If you need to leave during class bring a note from your parent to the Attendance Office before finals that day. We WILL NOT call your parents and ask them to excuse you early for any reason. The Attendance Office WILL NOT deliver student summons during Final Exams to remove you from class. ALL students need to stay during the entire exam period out of respect for all the other classes in exams.

MEETINGS AND TRYOUTS
THE SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM is meeting every Monday in Room E-5.
COACH GUTIERREZ is having a meeting for RETURNING, TRANSITIONING, & INTERESTED Varsity Football Players Tuesday (December 9th) at 2:15pm in Room G-210.
AUDITIONS for Canyon's 5th period advanced acting class are this Thursday and Friday December 11th and 12th. Sign up for a time slot on the door to the B-Lecture Hall.
ATTENTION ALL BOYS interested in playing volleyball. There will be a meeting in S2 on Tuesday 12/9, at lunch. If you have any questions see Coach Cody in the boy’s locker room.
BOYS TENNIS TRYOUTS will be December 10, 11 and 12 starting after school at 3:10 pm. Meet at the tennis courts. Before tennis tryouts please see Coach Bristow in room K6 to place your name on the tryout list and get information about the joining the team.
SOFTBALL TRYOUTS for the Spring Season will be held TODAY at 3:30pm
at Sierra Vista. If you are interested in trying out, please see either Mrs. Meschkat in room AA-2 or Ms. Hoggatt in room B-3 to sign up.
SENIORS
SENIORS: This is the one you have been waiting for! The Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Foundation Scholarship is available online at www.scvsf.org. This ONE application allows you to be in the running for one of approx. 20 scholarships ranging from $5000 to $500. These awards WILL go to Canyon seniors! Join the counselors in Q-Theater this Thursday (12/11) during lunch for a meeting to get the inside scoop on this important scholarship opportunity.
DIPLOMA NAME LIST: All seniors need to check the diploma name list posted in the display case outside the Counseling Office to make sure their name is spelled correctly and that it is their legal name. If you find an error, please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office as soon as possible so that a correction can be made. Otherwise, your name will appear on your diploma as it is written on this list. All changes and corrections need to be made by 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014. Copies of birth certificates are required for all changes!
NEW CLASS FOR JUNIORS AND SENIORS
NEXT SEMESTER there will be a 1st period Introduction to Visual Communications. This is one of Canyon High School's Career Pathway classes. It is connected with College of the Canyon's Multi Media and Design Degree program which is also connected to the Cal Arts program. If you are interested in this class please talk to your counselor or Mr. Lee in V-1 today.
