GENERAL

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM for advancing to CIF Finals this next Saturday.  Our varsity girls are Kyla Danforth, Samantha Lopez, Stephanie Martinez, Yee-Lynn Wong, Rosa Hernandez, Pamela Bietsch, Malissa Janes, Seanna Nalbandyan, and Sandra Diaz. CIF Finals is Saturday, November 22nd at Mt. Sac.

 

THE LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED this Thursday after lunch unless you’re a senior and have an appointment in the library with your counselor for college applications. We're very sorry for the inconvenience.

COC COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVE ON CAMPUS:  A COC college representative will be on our campus Monday, Nov. 24.  You will learn about the admission requirements for summer/fall 2015, certificates and associates degrees, transfer preparation and programs, College Now for high school students, student support services and much more. If you would like to attend the meeting, please sign up in the Counseling Office.  The meeting will be held during 5th period in Room H-1. 

BOYS TENNIS TRYOUTS will be December 10, 11 and 12 starting after school at 3:10 pm.  Meet at the tennis courts. Before tennis tryouts please see Coach Bristow in room K6 to place your name on the tryout list and get information about the joining the team.  

KEY CLUB MEMBERS:  Did you lose a jacket at the last meeting?  Please see Mrs. Nelson in the Assistant Principals Office to claim it.

Graphic Design will be offered first period M-F and you can learn how to print T-shirts in the Tues and Thursday afternoon Screen printing class. You must be signed up by December 10 so don't delay, go see your counselor today. 

 

CAN YOU SING, DANCE, JUGGLE, OR TELL JOKES?  Then sign up for A Little Goes A Long Way's annual, holiday talent show to support local charities! Sign-ups are going on until Tuesday, November 18 in room D-4. Stop by before school, during 1st brunch or lunch.

 

MEETINGS

 

ANIME CLUB: Come to room K-4 during lunch today and join the Anime Club!  Here we will learn about our favorite stories, learn how to draw Anime, and have a terrific time!  Everyone is welcome!  See you there!

 

STAND UP AND SPEAK UP!  Speak up is meeting TODAY at lunch in the B-Lecture Hall. 

 

ECO CHICOS ENVIRONMENTAL Club meeting is this Wed 11/19 at lunch in room G-107.

 

HEY EVERYONE!  Come to FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES-- Wednesday in room G-206

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB AND Yu-GI-Oh will meet at lunch each Wednesday at lunch in G-117.  Questions please see Mr. Clark.

 

“A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY” will be having a meeting on Thursday, November 20

at lunch in room D-4. We will be discussing our upcoming holiday talent show. Please attend at the beginning lunch

SENIORS

COUNSELOR NEWS: Due to popular demand, the counselors will continue to be in the library 7th period to help you fill out your college applications until Tuesday, November 25th.  Don't forget, the application deadline for UC and CSU schools is Sunday, November 30th.  Late applications will not be accepted, so make sure you get all your questions answered before you leave for Thanksgiving break.

DIPLOMA NAME:  If you are a senior and did not receive a Diploma Name Form in one of your classes earlier this month, please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office for this form ASAP.  We need to have your legal name on these forms for your high school diploma.

SENIORS--COLLEGE APPLICATION HELP:  If you plan to apply to a UC or CSU school, the deadline is November 30.  The counselors are available all this week during 7th period in the library to help you apply.  There is a signup sheet in the counseling office.  The counselors will help you with any online application.  Please make sure to apply early!! If you are still having trouble deciding which schools would be a good match for you, please come to these sessions.  We can help with that too!                                          

SENIORS- The Santa Clarita Emblem Club #459  will award four $800 scholarships. Two of the scholarships will be awarded to a family member of an Emblem Club or Santa Clarita Elks #2379 member- the other two are open to all seniors. The application is available to you in the Counseling Office. Scholarship application must be postmarked on or before February 15, 2015.
