GENERAL

FINAL REMINDER: TEXTBOOK DAMAGE WAIVER FORMS ARE DUE TODAY! SEPT 5TH.  DROP YOURS OFF IN THE BLUE BIN AT THE LIBRARY.

GOOD MORNING STUDENTS, Last year the visitors from WASC commented that ours was the cleanest campus they had ever seen.  We need your help to maintain such a great reputation!  Please throw your trash in trash cans and your recyclable bottles in the blue recycle bins.

SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL HUNGER AWARENESS MONTH. Join Cheer, Football and ASB in our month long food drive.  With your donations of canned food or personal hygiene items, we can help support the local food banks.  Boxes are located in the front office or you can bring any donations to our home game on Friday, September 19th.  No one deserves to go hungry.  Let’s show our community that Canyon High is committed to helping end hunger. Donate today!

FOOD SERVICE: Only students purchasing brunch or lunch should be in the food service building.  Once you have gotten your food, please exit the building right away to allow others access to the counters.  If you are waiting for your friends, please wait outside.  Thank you for your cooperation.   

 

COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS CAREERS ON THE GO WORKSHOP SERIES! The Culinary Arts workshop will be held on Thursday, September 18th, 2014 from 6:00PM-7:30PM at the COC Valencia Campus in Mentry Hall Room 343.

 

CSF – Officers are reviewing CSF applications this week and the list of new members will be posted in the library by TODAY.

 

PARKING PASSES:  There are ONLY 30 parking passes left.  First come, first serve. Juniors and Seniors only.  Make sure you have the paperwork complete, before you sign up. Paperwork is found on the wall outside the ASB office.

THE HART SCHOOL DISTRICT’S FOURTH ANNUAL COLLEGE AND CAREER FAIR on Wednesday evening, September 17th from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Because of the popularity of our fair, the event will be open to juniors and seniors only.

 Over 100 representatives from 2-year and 4-year universities, career technical schools and apprenticeship programs will be participating. For more information visit the Career Center website www.hartdistrictcareercenter.com

SAFE RIDES TRAINING:  A great way to get community service hours is volunteering at Safe Rides. You get 5 hours every night you volunteer!   There will be training for new volunteers Saturday, September 6th in the Activity Center on Centre Point Parkway – by the Skate Park.  DON'T MISS IT! MEETINGS

 

THE BOOK CLUB meets TODAY @ lunch in the library. We're looking forward to meeting with all you readers who signed up at club rush. 

 

The CHEMISTRY CLUB will meet Friday (TODAY) at lunch in room K-5. Join us in turning pennies silver and gold!

 

IF YOU PLAY COMPUTER ROLE PLAYING GAMES like Skyrim, World of warcraft or even league of legends, you should try table top role-playing.   The roleplaying club will be having a new player character creation day TODAY in K-3 from 3-7 pm.  Come and make a new character and play the classic dungeons and dragons style game in room K-3 on Friday

 

OPERATION US: We will be meeting briefly at lunch on Monday Sept. 8th in E3. See you then.

 

"A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY” will have its first general meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 9, in room D-4. If you are interested in joining a club that raises money for local charities, then please come to our first meeting of the year!

 

HELPING HANDS members, remember there is a mandatory orientation at the Canyon Country Library on Tuesday at 4:00, if you are unable to make it please speak with your president.

2015 SENIORS: You need to make an appointment to get your senior portraits taken NOW! Not tomorrow, not next week, but now. O'Connor photography is getting booked up and the deadline to get your senior portrait in the yearbook is October 10th. Please schedule your portrait sitting with O'Connor today. WENDY’S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN AWARD:  Are you a senior athlete who is a great student in the classroom (has at least a "B" average), a great athlete on the playing field, and active in leadership and/or the community?  Wendy's Restaurants have combined with the Heisman Memorial Trophy Committee to honor both female and male athletes who work hard, are dedicated, and are role models to underclassmen.  Students can be awarded up to $10,000 in scholarships and the first 25,000 seniors that apply will get a $10 gift certificate to Wendy's.To create an account and apply go to http://www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com/  Applications are due October 3rd, 5 pm, central time.
