GENERAL

 

ROP:  Great opportunity for incoming 10th – 12th grade students! 

Advanced Manufacturing & Welding Summer Camp at College of the Canyons

COC's Expert instructors guide you through a journey into the world of working with metal. Campers will work in a real live welding & metal fabrication laboratory using many of today's common welding processes in addition to taking part in interactive entrepreneurial building actives each day.

Date:  July 7th - 11th, 2014----Time:  9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.----Age: Incoming 10th - 12th grade students

Location:  College of the Canyons, Welding and Metal Fabrication Laboratories

Cost:  $195 per student, Includes T-shirt, lunch for all 5 days and two field trips

THEATRE AUDITIONS for next year's fall play will be Monday May 12th. Join us in the B-Lecture Hall at 2 PM if you have an open 7th or at 3 PM if you don't. No preparation necessary. See Mrs. P in the B Lecture Hall if you have any questions.

 

COC is offering SPEED READING courses this summer.  Also classes to improve READING SKILLS!  What a great opportunity!  You can improve on phonics, comprehension, vocab, and more!  All programs meet once a week.  For more info or to register call 1.800.978.3532.

SUMMER SPORTS:  Pick up packets for the summer sports program in the Front Office or the ASB Office.  When completed turn them into the ASB Office.

 

AP ECONOMICS REVIEW: If you took AP Economics in the fall semester and are planning on taking the AP Exam, Mr. Smith will be conducting AP reviews every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at lunch in room A-5. The reviews will begin on Monday, April 21, and run thru Wednesday, May 14.

ATTENTION KEY CLUB MEMBERS:  There will be a general meeting TODAY in S-4 at lunch.  Attendance will be taken.

COME GET YOUR CLUB ON!  Your Bible club, that is!  There will be home-baked goodies and fantastabular conversations about the Bible and related topics.  Come this Thursday at lunch to the A Lecture Hall.

 

POLITICAL DEBATE CLUB:  Meets on Friday at lunch in room E-1.

 

HEY COWBOYS!  The next GSA meeting is Thursday, May 15 at lunch in room C-4!  It is our second to last meeting and we will be having guest speakers from PFLAG to discuss their BBQ and how to earn community service hours if you need them!  Hope to see you there!

 

 

 

 

 

SENIORS

 

ATTENTION SENIORS:  Just a reminder that “Final Transcript” requests can be turned in anytime, but no later than Friday, June 6th – the last day of the school year, in order for us to mail them out on time by June 18th.  If you have any questions, you are welcome to stop by the Registrar’s Office.

 

HEY COWBOYS-Did you enjoy your time at Canyon?  Will you be hard to forget?  The staff at Canyon has a $600.00 scholarship for you.  Pick up paperwork in the counseling office.

SENIORS, the Ian Gelig Memorial Scholarship is offering a $1000 scholarship to a senior that has a parent or sibling that is a veteran.  The scholarship can be renewed for 8 semesters, so it will be an $8000 scholarship.  You must have a GPA over 2.0 to apply.  Please pick up an application in the counseling office if interested.  The scholarship deadline is May 15th.

 

THE Fil-Am Association of SCV is offering a $1000 scholarship to a senior with a 3.5 or above GPA that is of Filipino descent. Please pick up an application in the counseling office if you are interested.  The deadline is May 16th.

 

SENIORS- Youth Automobile Safety Scholarship for 2014 is an essay competition for high school seniors who are children of full-time or retired public employees. Scholarships range from $250-$1, 500 based on the merit of the essays that propose ways to reduce the accident rate among teenagers. The deadline to apply is May 16, 2014.
