GENERAL

Attention students . . .

Did you know Canyon has a new Mission Statement?

It reads:

"Our mission is to develop responsible citizens who have the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary for either beginning post-secondary education or entering the workforce"

When you graduate - will you have what it takes to start your career?  Will you be ready for college?

If you are unsure about the answer to either of these questions, schedule a meeting with you counselor and/or career advisor today.  We can help . . .

IF YOU MISSED THE ASVAB CAREER EXPLORATION test here at Canyon, there will be another opportunity. The test will be offered on Tuesday, April 15th from 3:45-6:45 pm at the Hart District Offices. A signup sheet is in the counseling office.

JAZZ POP:  Hey Cowboys, there is no party like a Jazz/Pop party, so come celebrate it with the choirs on Friday, March 21 at 7:30 pm, or on Saturday, March 22 at 6:30 pm.  Both concerts are in the main GYM!  Tickets go on sale on Monday, March 17!  They are $7 without an ASB card, or $5 with an ASB or for senior citizens.  Children under 10 get in for free!  So come celebrate with the choirs and purchase a ticket from a choir student or Mrs. Purdy.  Hope to see you there!

MEETINGS

OPERATION US: All members need to attend our last scheduled meeting of the year Tuesday March 18th at lunch in E3. See Ms. Mast if you have any questions.

SENIORS

ATTENTION SENIOR BOYS:  Mr. Canyon will not happen if you don’t sign up!!  Don’t let your class miss out on a senior event because you didn’t sign up!!  Pick up applications outside of the ASB window and turn them in ASAP!!!!

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP:  The Santa Clarita Valley Association of School Administrators is offering a scholarship to one Canyon Senior.  In order to apply you need to have at least a 2.5 GPA, have plans to attend a college or program after graduation, and have attended schools in Santa Clarita for at least seven years.

THE CALIFORNIA ALARM ASSOCIATION is offering $40,000 in scholarships to seniors with a parent or guardian that is a full time member of a law enforcement agency.  If you have a parent or guardian that is a full time paid or volunteer member of a fire department you are also eligible to apply.  Please pick up an application in the counseling office.  Applications must be postmarked by March 31st.

ARE YOU A SENIOR?  AND maybe you have not found the RIGHT college MATCH for you yet?  Did you know that some great colleges are still accepting applications?  One college is Louisiana State and we have the rep coming to CANYON on May 2nd during 5th period in H-1.  They are a top-ranked university in Engineering, Business, Law, Architecture and Design, French, and Education.  They ALSO have colleges in Agriculture, Art & Design, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Music & Dramatic Arts.  Tuition is less than $5000 per semester!  That is a great deal!  So mark your calendar and go to H-1 in May and learn more.
