        RALLY ON FRIDAY JANUARY 24

GENERAL

MYSPACE is dead, FACEBOOK is dead...  SNAPCHAT, INTSAGRAM... they'll probably be obsolete in the next two years.  But a Canyon Yearbook lasts forever! THIS Friday is THE LAST DAY to order your 2014 yearbook. Seniors will definitely regret it this spring if you don't have book. So, if you want a yearbook this year... get to ASB today with a check for $90 or you'll be left empty-handed.

DO YOU NEED AN ELECTIVE:  ROP has career classes for juniors and seniors. Classes available are TV Broadcast, Interior Design, Entertainment, Business, Construction, Childhood Education, Physical Therapy, Wildland Fire/Outdoors Rec., Law and EMR.  Some of the previously closed classes now have openings.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP Office to sign up now. Classes start this week.  Don't miss out!

PSAT TEST RESULTS HERE:  You may pick up your PSAT test results starting today during brunch or lunch in the Counseling Office.  See Mrs. Hettema for your test results and actual test booklet.

SOFTBALL: Anyone wishing to try out for the softball team please come to the softball field at 3:00 Friday January 24th

OPEN PERIOD STICKERS:   If you need an Open Period Sticker on the back of your ID card for this semester, please bring BOTH your ID card AND your printed schedule to the AP office before school, at brunch, or lunch.  DO NOT COME DURING CLASS TIME.  Do NOT come during PERIOD 6.

ATTENTION CANYON HIGH STUDENTS: Are you arriving to your classes late?  If so, you will be earning a Saturday School for every 5 tardies to any one class.  That’s four hours on a Saturday that you can spend doing other things.  Any single period or all day truancy will also lead to a Saturday School.  Poor attendance will also prevent you from taking a 1st period class next semester.  If you are absent from school please make sure your parent or guardian calls the school immediately to excuse your absence.  Parents and Guardians have 48 hours to clear absences or they become truancies.  Please Cowboys, hustle up and get to all your classes on time.

CANYON BLOOD DRIVE IS HERE ---On Wednesday February 5th Canyon will host a UCLA blood drive.  Donate blood, save a life, and get movie tickets and a cookie!  You must be 16 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds.  Stop by Mr. Cuny's room in C-6 to sign up during brunch or lunch.

STUDENTS, have you ever heard of a dangerous situation that one of your friends was in, but didn't know how to help?  Have you ever felt unsafe on campus, but don't feel comfortable talking about it to an adult?  Now you have the chance to do something about it!

Text-a-Tip is a new program where students can anonymously text any information from their cell phone situations that may occur on campus.  A warning to those who are looking to prank tips to this number, Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies monitor the texts as well and can track a number if this service is being taken for granted.  For students who are in real need of support or safety, please text tips to 661-772-7389 or 661-772-SFTY.
