WINTER FORMAL tickets go on sale starting Monday, December 2nd. Tickets start at $60 w/ASB cards and $70 w/o ASB. Paperwork is available outside ASB.
CONGRATULATIONS TO: Muskan (pronounced "Moose-con) Parashar and Cassandra Yeam. Last weekend they participated in the Southern California Honor Choir Concert. Each of them had to audition in September. They were selected from a field of over 500 singers from all over Southern California. The concert was beautiful and each represented Canyon well!
COME ON OUT TO THE MAIN GYM TONIGHT for the Annual Boys Basketball Alumni night. The action starts @ 4:30pm, when recent alumni take on the older alumni. @ 6:00pm, the boys JV will play against the faculty, & @ 7:30pm, the Varsity Boys team will play against Canyon basketball stars of the past two decades. See you there.
STUDENTS: If you have had to change your shirt due to Dress Code Violations and have NOT picked up your shirts/tops before winter break they will be discarded.
If you are a CHRISTIAN VARSITY ATHLETE in 10th, 11th or 12th grade with a 2.0 grade point average or higher, you may apply for a scholarship called Playing with Purpose. This scholarship program will award $14,000 worth of scholarships this school year! Application deadline is February 1, 2014. Go to: www.playingwithpurpose.org to apply.
MEETINGS
CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and YU-GI-OH Club meet every Wednesday and Friday and G-117. Bring your lunch. Questions ask Mr. Clark
There is a KEY CLUB meeting in S-4 TODAY. Don’t forget your hours are due at the beginning of next semester, and we will be handing out hour sheets at the meeting. Attendance will be taken!
SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM will be meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room E-5.
BELIEVE CLUB is meeting in room F-2 at lunch TODAY.
HEY COWBOYS! There is a GSA Meeting next Thursday in Room C-4 at lunch! It’s a pot luck so please bring some food if you can, if you can’t anyone is still welcome to come! We will be having a fundraiser on December 16 & 17 at The Habit, come find flyers in Room C-4, B-Lecture, and The counseling office! Come support your GSA and local PFLAG. Also, the next PFLAG Meeting is tomorrow at St. Stephens Church at 7pm!
SENIORS
SENIORS: There will be a very important Financial Aid meeting on the late start Wednesday, December 4th, at 8 am in the Q Theater. If you plan to go to a 2 year, 4 year, or trade school after graduation, you should plan to attend! Most of our scholarships become available second semester. We will be handing out an application that will qualify you for at least 15 scholarships that are available to only Canyon students. We will also discuss in detail how to apply for financial aid. If you can’t make this meeting, make sure to visit the counseling office.
SENIORS: The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California will fund 109 scholarships to high school seniors this year as part of an ongoing commitment to education. If you are a legal U.S. resident with a minimum 2.7 GPA, you may apply! Go to www.rmhc.org for the application. January 21, 2014 is the application deadline.
