DIFFERENT SCHEDULE THIS WEEK:
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20--LATE START
GENERAL
HEY COWBOYS—NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY is having a school wide Toy Drive for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Earn community service by helping a patient in need this Holiday Season. Two big toys are 1 hour and 4 small toys are 1 hour. Please bring donations to C-1. There is a max of 3 hours per person.
HEALTH OFFICE: When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office. It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home. Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office.
ASB APPLICATIONS: Do you love Canyon? Have you been to ISM or Homecoming? Do you want to work behind the scenes for all Canyon events? Join Canyon ASB! Applications are now available at the ASB Office. Applications are due by November 27, 2013!
JUNIORS AND SENIORS
JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Interested in taking a COC course during the winter, spring or summer sessions? Please come to the Q-Theater on November 20th at 8 am to learn how to register. A COC representative will be here to help!
JUNIORS AND SENIORS: A representative from COC’s Outreach & School Relations Office will be on campus on Monday, November 18th, to meet with students. This is an opportunity to hear about what COC has to offer you. Come by the Counseling Office to reserve a time with the representative, or you may drop by during brunch or lunch to speak with her.
You may make an appointment with the representative for a future visit in the Counseling Office, as she will visit Canyon monthly throughout the year to speak with students regarding admissions requirements, academic opportunities at COC , transfer programs , and more.
MEETINGS
There is an NHS meeting TODAY in C-6 (Mr. Cuny’s room) at lunch.
BELIEVE CLUB: Is meeting Wednesday at lunch in room F-2.
SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM will be meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room E-5.
SENIORS
SENIORS: There will be a very important Financial Aid meeting on the late start Wednesday, December 4th, at 8 am in the Q Theater. If you plan to go to a 2 year, 4 year, or trade school after graduation, you should plan to attend! Most of our scholarships become available second semester. We will be handing out an application that will qualify you for at least 15 scholarships that are available to only Canyon students. We will also discuss in detail how to apply for financial aid. If you can’t make this meeting, make sure to visit the counseling office.
SENIORS: Utah State University offers 150 majors and has many top programs including engineering. It can be affordable in many ways, including becoming a WUE student for the first year and applying for state residency for the second year and beyond. With residency, room/board and tuition, etc. is estimated to be $12,000/year.

Do you have a 3.75 GPA? Did you know that you can go to Southwestern Oregon Community College FOR FREE if you have a 3.75 GPA! And if you don't, they do NOT charge out-of-state tuition, so it is still VERY affordable! This small college of 3,000 is in Coos Bay on the beautiful southern Oregon coast. They do offer on-campus housing. So, perhaps, you might want to check it out!
SPORTS
Baseball Tryouts will be held after school on Wed and Thursday ...November 20th and 21st...stop by room B-5 if you need more information.
