GENERAL

 

Canyon has a playoff football game at HOME this Friday night—November 15.  Game time is 7:00 p.m.  Since this is a post-season game, NO ASB cards, Student, Child or Adult are NOT valid.  Also, Hart School District Employee ID and Foothill League passes are NOT honored.  The cost is $8 for Adults and Senior Citizens, $5 for high school students that show their High School ID.  $5 for children 13 and younger.  TICKETS ARE ON SALE BEFORE SCHOOL, BRUNCH AND LUNCH.

Avoid long lines on Friday night—buy your tickets in advance.

 

ATTENTION NEHS MEMBERS:  A new volunteer opportunity is now available!  If you are interested in volunteering at the Arts and Literacy Festival on December 7th please sign up in C-1 before Friday at lunch!  This is a great opportunity to get many service hours done in one day.

 

COME TO VINCENZO’S on Lyon's Ave. in Newhall any time today to raise funds for the 11th Annual Summer Meltdown. 

 

BOYS TENNIS TRYOUTS:   Boys tennis tryouts cancelled—until further notice.

 

HEY COWBOYS—NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY is having a school wide Toy Drive for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  Earn community service by helping a patient in need this Holiday Season.  Two big toys are 1 hour and 4 small toys are 1 hour.  Please bring donations to C-1.   There is a max of 3 hours per person. 

 

If you are a CHRISTIAN VARSITY ATHLETE in 10th, 11th or 12th grade with a 2.0 grade point average or higher, you may apply for a scholarship called Playing with Purpose. This scholarship program will award $14,000 worth of scholarships this school year! Application deadline is February 1, 2014. Go to: www.playingwithpurpose.org to apply.

    

MEETINGS

 

BIBLE CLUB--Every Thursday at lunch, the Bible Club will meet in the A Lecture Hall.  We'll have food and great discussions about the Bible and life.  Come and meet some great people and be part of this exciting club!

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and YU-GI-OH Club meet every Wednesday and Friday and G-117.  Bring your lunch. Questions ask Mr. Clark

 

SENIORS

 

SENIORS:  There will be a very important Financial Aid meeting on the late start Wednesday, December 4th, at 8 am in the Q theater.   If you plan to go to a 2 year, 4 year, or trade school after graduation, you should plan to attend!  Most of our scholarships become available second semester.  We will be handing out an application that will qualify you for at least 15 scholarships that are available to only Canyon students. We will also discuss in detail how to apply for financial aid.  If you can’t make this meeting, make sure to visit the counseling office. 

 

SENIORS:  The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California will fund 109 scholarships to high school seniors this year as part of an ongoing commitment to education. If you are a legal U.S. resident with a minimum 2.7 GPA, you may apply! Go to www.rmhc.org for the application. January 21, 2014 is the application deadline.
