HART RALLY—FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, AT 7 p.m. In the Main Gym. The Aux gym will open at 6 p.m. and the door from the Aux gym into the Main Gym opens at 6:50 to go into the Rally. Come on out and show your Cowboy spirit!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO KATRINA DE GUZMAN for coming in 2nd place in League Prelims in Tennis. She will be competing in CIF later this month!
HAVING TROUBLE IN ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY OR PRE-CALCULUS? Don’t worry! The Math Honors Society is offering FREE tutoring to students at lunch this Tuesday, November 5th in G216. This is a student-run tutoring time. The first Tuesday of every month will be reserved for tutoring. So bring your friends and your math homework. See you at lunch on Tuesday in G216!
VOLLEYBALL GAMES: Come cheer on our Volleyball teams today when they play Hart at HOME!! Frosh play at 4:00 in the Aux gym, JV plays at 4:30 in the Main gym and Varsity plays at 5:30 in the Main gym.
CROSS COUNTRY MEET THURSDAY @ 3:00 AT CENTRAL PARK! Varsity girls are tied with Saugus for the league title. Come show your Canyon Spirit and support Cross Country.
TRY OUTS for the CANYON SWIM TEAM will be held Monday-Thursday this week at the SCV Aquatics center starting at 2:30 each day. Students if you have a 7th period class go to tryouts after school.
HEALTH OFFICE: When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office. It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home. Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office.
Hey S.O.S. and AMERICAN RED CROSS members! Don't forget that we'll be making holiday cards for heroes TODAY in room BB3 at lunch! Anyone is welcome if they'd like community service hours.
OPERATION US: We are presenting at Mitchell Elementary to a large group on Thursday November 21st from 7:25 AM to 11 AM. We would like as many Canyon students to attend as possible! Please stop by E3 during 1st brunch or lunch to pick up a permission slip! Permission slips will be due on Friday November 8th.

CAREER SPOTLIGHT – HOTEL & RESTAURANT: Are you 17 and looking for employment skills that may lead to a job? ROP offers the Hotel Restaurant operations course. Train for entry-level jobs in food/beverage, guest relations, housekeeping and office. This opportunity provides work experience for resumes and many times leads to paid employment. See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office to sign up.
AFJROTC FUNDRAISER: Come support the AFJROTC, they will be having a fundraiser at Mountasia on November 15. Prices and details are on the fliers posted around the school. You may purchase tickets at the booth located near the front gate during both brunches and lunch.
AFRICAN-AMERICAN COLLEGE PLANNING CONFERENCE @ Golden Valley High School on Robert E. Lee Parkway, Saturday, November 16th, Workshops from 8:30 to 12 and a Mini-College Fair from 12-1pm. This is a wonderful event for juniors, seniors, and their parents. Food and raffles and workshops including: Finding the Right College, Writing Your Personal Statement, Applying to College, Getting Financial Aid/Scholarships, Parents' Workshops. POMS FOR PROMS FUNDRAISER - Would you like an opportunity to donate to a great cause? SCV Cheer squads are inviting you to gather gently used short and long formal dresses and gowns, evening wear shoes and handbags, men’s suits, ties and shoes. Please give them to Mrs. Nelson in the AP Office by November 12th. Your donated items will be available at a nominal cost to students in need at the Assistant League in Newhall. The Santa Clarita Valley Community appreciates all you do to make a difference!

MEETINGS
BIBLE CLUB--Every Thursday at lunch, the Bible Club will meet in the A Lecture Hall. We'll have food and great discussions about the Bible and life. Come and meet some great people and be part of this exciting club!
ANIME CLUB is meeting today at lunch in room G-220.
CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and YU-GI-OH Club meet every Wednesday and Friday and G-117. Bring your lunch. Questions ask Mr. Clark
SPEECH AND DEBATE team will be meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room E-5.
FCA meeting Friday at lunch in room G-206. Come check it out. We will have food and an inspirational speaker.
SENIORS
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: Seniors, please give teachers and counselors PLENTY of time to complete college letters of recommendation for you. Staff should be given at least two weeks’ notice, as they will not be able to work on these over Thanksgiving/Winter breaks. Please provide the stamped, addressed envelope (if needed) as well as a ‘brag sheet’ listing your activities, award, honors, etc. You can pick up a copy of Request for Letter of Recommendation form in the Counseling Office.
