CANYON HIGH SCHOOL

GENERAL

TRY OUTS for the CANYON SWIM TEAM will be held Monday-Thursday next week at the SCV Aquatics center starting at 2:30 each day.  Students if you have a 7^th period class go to tryouts after school.

HEALTH OFFICE:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office. 

Hey S.O.S. and AMERICAN RED CROSS members! Don't forget that we'll be making holiday cards for heroes on Monday and Tuesday in room BB3 at lunch! Anyone is welcome if they'd like community service hours.

OPERATION US: We are presenting at Mitchell Elementary to a large group on Thursday November 21st from 7:25 AM to 11 AM. We would like as many Canyon students to attend as possible! Please stop by E3 during 1st brunch or lunch to pick up a permission slip! Permission slips will be due on Friday November 8th.

CAREER SPOTLIGHT – OUTDOOR WILDERNESS:  Do you love the wilderness and outdoors?  ROP offers a course in Outdoor Recreation & Wilderness Conservation.  See Mrs. Gaines to sign up in the ROP office today.

AFRICAN-AMERICAN COLLEGE PLANNING CONFERENCE @ Golden Valley High School on Robert E. Lee Parkway, Saturday, November 16th, Workshops from 8:30 to 12 and a Mini-College Fair from 12-1pm.  This is a wonderful event for juniors, seniors, and their parents.  Food and raffles and workshops including:  Finding the Right College, Writing Your Personal Statement, Applying to College, Getting Financial Aid/Scholarships, Parents' Workshops.  Learn about Howard, Spelman, Hampton, CSUN and more! AFJROTC FUNDRAISER:  Come support the AFJROTC, they will be having a fundraiser at Mountasia on November 15.  Prices and details are on the fliers posted around the school.  You may purchase tickets at the booth located near the front gate during both brunches and lunch.

POMS FOR PROMS FUNDRAISER -  Would you like an opportunity to donate to a great cause?  SCV Cheer squads are inviting you to gather gently used short and long formal dresses and gowns, evening wear shoes and handbags, men’s suits, ties and shoes.   Please give them to Mrs. Nelson in the AP Office by November 12th.  Your donated items will be available at a nominal cost to students in need at the Assistant League in Newhall.  The Santa Clarita Valley Community appreciates all you do to make a difference!

HAVE EXTRA HALLOWEEN CANDY? Donate it to a good cause! Bring it to G-217 to send it to our troops!  We'll be collecting candy up until Friday, November 8th :)

MEETINGS

THE ROLEPLAYING CLUB will be meeting TODAY from three to seven pm in K4 to play the pathfinder roleplaying system.  New players are welcome!
