SUPPLEMENTAL PROGRESS REPORTS: If you would like to receive a supplemental progress report tomorrow, please see Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office between 7:30am and 8:00am tomorrow morning to pick one up. If you have a 7:00am class, you may pick one up today after your last class.
THE LIBRARY will be closed 1st period on November 4th for a class. We're sorry for the inconvenience.
CAREER SPOTLIGHT – ARTS: Are you artistic? Explore the arts through a variety of ROP classes, from Floristry, Graphic Design, Digital Photography (A-G), and Screen Printing. To sign up, see Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office.
TRY OUTS for the CANYON SWIM TEAM will be held Monday-Thursday next week at the SCV Aquatics center starting at 2:30 each day"
FOUND KEY: A key and a clicker for a Chevy. Found at Canyon’s Football stadium a few weeks ago. See Mrs. Ruppert in the office if it is yours.
TODAY is a great day for a frozen yogurt from MENCHIES! Canyon's very own Speech and Debate team has its first competition on November 9th and are raising money for registration fees. Please come out and support our team by purchasing a Menchies yogurt. Flyers are available in room E-5.
POMS FOR PROMS FUNDRAISER - Would you like an opportunity to donate to a great cause? SCV Cheer squads are inviting you to gather gently used short and long formal dresses and gowns, evening wear shoes and handbags, men’s suits, ties and shoes. Please give them to Mrs. Nelson in the AP Office by November 12th. Your donated items will be available at a nominal cost to students in need at the Assistant League in Newhall. The Santa Clarita Valley Community appreciates all you do to make a difference!
HAVE EXTRA HALLOWEEN CANDY? Donate it to a good cause! Bring it to G-217 to send it to our troops! We'll be collecting candy up until Friday, November 8th :)
ATTENTION COWBOYS: do you have an unusual or hidden talent? Or do you like to perform for people? Well "A Little Goes A Long Way" is having its second annual talent show in December. If you would like to participate, please sign-up by TODAY during lunch in room D-4!
If you are a CHRISTIAN VARSITY ATHLETE in 10th, 11th or 12th grade with a 2.0 grade point average or higher, you may apply for a scholarship called Playing with Purpose. This scholarship program will award $14,000 worth of scholarships this school year! Application deadline is February 1, 2014. Go to: www.playingwithpurpose.org to apply.
MEETINGS
SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM will be meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room E-5.
KEY CLUB: Is having a meeting TODAY in S-4. As always attendance will be taken. Please try to wear your t-shirt.
CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and YU-GI-OH Club meet every Wednesday and Friday and G-117. Bring your lunch. Questions ask Mr. Clark
Speech and debate team will be meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room E-5.
BIBLE CLUB--Every Thursday at lunch, the Bible Club will meet in the A Lecture Hall. We'll have food and great discussions about the Bible and life. Come and meet some great people and be part of this exciting club!
THE ROLEPLAYING CLUB will be meeting on Monday Nov 4 from three to seven pm in K4 to play the pathfinder roleplaying system. The club is on Monday because Friday, November 1 is a student free day. New players are welcome!
HALLOWEEN is coming! There is a GSA meeting in room C-4 at lunch. It’s a Pot Luck meeting. We are having a costume contest—remember no masks!
SENIORS
DIPLOMA NAME FORM: Your Government or Economic teacher will be asking you to complete the Diploma Name Form during class sometime this week. Please print your legal first, middle and last name as it is printed on your birth certificate. This will help to insure the correct spelling on your diploma. If you don’t receive a form sometime this week, you may pick one up in the Counseling Office next week.
SENIORS: ASIAN PACIFIC FUND SCHOLARSHIP is offering up to $1000 each for 10 California residents of Asian descent. All scholarships are supported by individual donors and have eligibility criteria set by the donors. For information about all the Asian Pacific Fund scholarships, please visit http://www.apcf.org/what-we-do/110 . The application deadline is January 31, 2014.
SENIORS: The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California will fund 109 scholarships to high school seniors this year as part of an ongoing commitment to education. If you are a legal U.S. resident with a minimum 2.7 GPA, you may apply! Go to www.rmhc.org for the application. January 21, 2014 is the application deadline.
STAFF
ECON AND GOVERNMENT TEACHERS: Yesterday, the Diploma Name forms were put in your mailboxes for all seniors in your classes to complete. Please have seniors write their complete first, middle, and last name as it is on their birth certificate. Please return the forms to Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office by 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov 4.
