GENERAL

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  CANYON FOOTBALL NEEDS YOUR HELP!  Let's pack the stands at Valencia TONIGHT in support of our school.  Let's win the Spirit Award this year by being loud while showing good sportsmanship.  REMEMBER that items like silly string or water squirters and confetti cannons are not allowed at the game. KICK OFF IS AT 7:00!!

CAREER SPOTLIGHT - DESIGN & FASHION:  Are you interested in the design field?  ROP offers Fashion Merchandising, Interior Design and Graphic Design as electives.  Don't miss out as these classes fill up quickly.  Stop by the ROP office to sign up.

 

HAVE EXTRA HALLOWEEN CANDY? Donate it to a good cause! Bring it to G-217 to send it to our troops!  We'll be collecting candy up until Friday, November 8th :)

 

POMS FOR PROMS FUNDRAISER -  Would you like an opportunity to donate to a great cause?  SCV Cheer squads are inviting you to gather gently used short and long formal dresses and gowns, evening wear shoes and handbags, men’s suits, ties and shoes.   Please give them to Mrs. Nelson in the AP Office by November 12th.  Your donated items will be available at a nominal cost to students in need at the Assistant League in Newhall.  The Santa Clarita Valley Community appreciates all you do to make a difference!

 

HEY JUNIORS AND SENIORS:  Carry on the Canyon tradition of winning a new car.  Nissan Valencia will be giving away a 2014 Nissan Versa.   All Junior and Seniors that have a C average (2.0), maintain 97 percent attendance or higher starting yesterday and have no suspensions for the school year are eligible.....Will it be You?  See Ms. Martinez in the Assistant Principal's office if you have any questions.

 

ATTENTION COWBOYS: do you have an unusual or hidden talent? Or do you like to perform for people? Well "A Little Goes A Long Way" is having its second annual talent show in December. If you would like to participate, please sign-up any day this week during lunch in room D-4!

 

There is a TOUR OF HENRY MAYO scheduled for Wednesday, October 30 from 3:30-5:00 for students interested in the medical/health sciences field.  See Mrs. King in room G-105 or Mr. d’Autremont in the main office for more information and permission slips.

 

 

 

THE MILITARY HISTORY CLUB invites you to attend a lecture by retired US Navy Captain D. Bethea, the CSUN history graduate and Commanding Officer of the guided missile frigate USS GARY during the dramatic, rapidly escalating naval struggle with Iran over control of the Persian Gulf in 1988.  His lecture is on Saturday, October 26, 10 AM, in Sierra Hall at CSUN. MEETINGS

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and YU-GI-OH Club meet every Wednesday and Friday and G-117.  Bring your lunch. Questions ask Mr. Clark

 

The BOOK CLUB will meet TODAY in the library @ lunch. New members are always welcome. This week, we'll be discussing Divergent by Veronica Roth. Stop by the library if you want to get a copy of the book and join in the discussion!

 

FCA MEETING:  Is TODAY in room G-206 at lunch.  Mr. Motherspaw will speak and there will be Pizza.

 

There will be a HELPING HANDS meeting on Monday, October 28th at lunch in B3. This meeting is mandatory, new members are welcome!

SENIORS

 

ARE YOU interested in attending/applying to Cal Lu?  They have a "price-matching"s scholarship w/ UCSB, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and UCSD!  If you are accepted to any of these UCs, you can apply for the CLA Guarantee Scholarship at California Lutheran, which qualifies an incoming Cal Lu student to pay for the private university (Cal Lu) that same fees as the public university (UC).  For more information go to callutheran.edu/cluguarantee or call (877) CLU-FOR-U or e-mail [email protected]

                       

ATTENTION SENIOR BOYS:  If you would like to be a part of this year’s MR. CANYON pageant, pick up an application outside of the ASB window.  Applications and $20 fee are due by Monday, October 28th.

 

USC is coming to CHS!  If you are applying to USC, please come to an information meeting Wed., Oct. 30th during 5th period (12:08 to 12:48) or during the first few minutes of lunch, in H-1.
