GENERAL

LETTERMAN JACKET fittings: Dagan Sales Rep will be on the outdoor stage during both brunches on Thursday. October 24th.

 

TODAY, ACS CHEMISTRY CLUB will be doing demos in celebration of mole day.  Join us in room K-5.

 

CAREER SPOTLIGHT - Criminal Justice:  Thinking of a career in criminal justice?  ROP offers a variety of introductory courses in Criminal Justice.  Law Enforcement, Forensics (A-G), or Law Academy courses will provide you with exposure in criminal justice.  Stop by the ROP for more information or to sign up for the spring semester.

 

ATTENTION COWBOYS:....Please be aware that any Halloween costumes that will be worn at school cannot violate dress code policy.  Shorts and skirts cannot be excessively short and shirts cannot show your midriff.  In addition, costumes cannot be excessively gory or bloody.  Lastly, you cannot wear any masks at school. 

 

ATTENTION COWBOYS: do you have an unusual or hidden talent? Or do you like to perform for people? Well "A Little Goes A Long Way" is having its second annual talent show in December. If you would like to participate, please sign-up any day this week during lunch in room D-4!

 

HAVE EXTRA HALLOWEEN CANDY? Donate it to a good cause! Bring it to G-217 to send it to our troops!  We'll be collecting candy up until Friday, November 9th :)

 

AFJROTC fundraiser:  Come support the AFJROTC, they will be having a fundraiser at Mountasia on November 15.  Prices and details are on the fliers posted around the school.  You may purchase tickets at the booth located near the front gate during both brunches and lunch. 

 

There is a TOUR OF HENRY MAYO scheduled for Wednesday, October 30 from 3:30-5:00 for students interested in the medical/health sciences field.  See Mrs. King in room G-105 or Mr. d’Autremont in the main office for more information and permission slips.

 

THE MILITARY HISTORY CLUB invites you to attend a lecture by retired US Navy Captain D. Bethea, the CSUN history graduate and Commanding Officer of the guided missile frigate USS GARY during the dramatic, rapidly escalating naval struggle with Iran over control of the Persian Gulf in 1988.  His lecture is on Saturday, October 26, 10 AM, in Sierra Hall at CSUN. MEETINGS

 

LACROSSE CLUB: Lacrosse Club! There will be a meeting of all students interested in playing Lacrosse in K-3, Mr. Nelson's Classroom, today at Lunch.  Wednesday during lunch in K-3 Lacrosse Club meeting!

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and YU-GI-OH Club meet every Wednesday and Friday and G-117.  Bring your lunch. Questions ask Mr. Clark

 

THERE IS A NEW CHRISTIAN GROUP ON CAMPUS.  Come check it out today in room G-217 at lunch to find out more about it.

 

“UNLESS” is another new club on campus.  They are meeting in room G-219 today at lunch.  

 

SPEECH AND DEBATE team will be meeting every Wednesday at lunch in room E-5.

 

BIBLE CLUB--Every Thursday at lunch, the Bible Club will meet in the A Lecture Hall.  We'll have food and great discussions about the Bible and life.  Come and meet some great people and be part of this exciting club!

 

The BOOK CLUB will meet this Friday in the library @ lunch. New members are always welcome. This week, we'll be discussing Divergent by Veronica Roth. Stop by the library if you want to get a copy of the book and join in the discussion!

 

DFYIT meeting Thursday at lunch - bring your lunch and join us.  Any member planning to attend the High School Summit on the 29th must be at the meeting to get your permission slip.

 

FCA MEETING:  Is Friday in room G-206 at lunch.  Mr. Motherspaw will speak and there will be Pizza.

 

 

 

 

 

SENIORS

 

ARE YOU interested in attending/applying to Cal Lu?  They have a "prince-matching"s scholarship w/ UCSB, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and UCSD!  If you are accepted to any of these UCs, you can apply for the CLA Guarantee Scholarship at California Lutheran, which qualifies an incoming Cal Lu student to pay for the private university (Cal Lu) that same fees as the public university (UC).  For more information go to callutheran.edu/cluguarantee or call (877) CLU-FOR-U or e-mail [email protected]

 

USC is coming to CHS!  If you are applying to USC, please come to an information meeting Wed., Oct. 30th during 5th period (12:08 to 12:48) or during the first few minutes of lunch, in H-1.

To RSVP to meet the USC Admissions representative, you must sign up in the Counseling Office.

 

SENIORS:  Are you still trying to decide which college is the right one for you?  The University of Albany ranks #1 in the world in nanotechnology and engineering.  It has been ranked one of the "Top 100 America's Best Public Colleges" by Forbes Magazine.  It has also been rated a top college for excellence in academics and affordability.  This school is known for being very strong in music, art, and theatre.  If you think you might like to hear more, there will be a representative for the University of Albany in H1 on Wednesday during 5th period and the first 10 minutes of lunch.  If you would like to attend please come fifth period, sign in, and your absence will be cleared in attendance.

 

ATTENTION SENIOR BOYS:  If you would like to be a part of this year’s MR. CANYON pageant, pick up an application outside of the ASB window.  Applications and $20 fee are due by Monday, October 28th.

 

SENIORS:  It's time to start preparing for Graduation.  The first step is to order your Cap & Gown, Graduation Announcements, and your ‘official’ CHS Senior Class Ring!
