GENERAL
THE CANYON GIRLS VARSITY GOLF TEAM ended a 5+ year drought with a victory over Valencia yesterday, 234-257. Led by Ashley Warner's 40 and Tiana Yamaoka's 44, the team was able to defeat Valencia for their first team match in over 5 years. Congratulations to the entire varsity team! Go Cowboys!

THE 3rd ANNUAL COLLEGE & CAREER FAIR is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 6-8:30 pm at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Over 100 Colleges & Universities, Career Preparation Schools and Apprenticeship programs will be on hand to answer questions about admission requirements and financial aid. This year, workshops will not be offered. All students are welcome, but the event is most appropriate for juniors and seniors with early entrance from 6-7 pm reserved for them. MEETINGS
THE SCIENCE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: Our first meeting is Tuesday September 10th at lunch in G-105. See Ms. King for details.
STUDENT TASK FORCE is a human rights club that meets every Tuesday in Mr. Jackson's room at lunch. This year STF will be helping to start a global campaign to end the use of schools by military forces in other countries. The first Student Task Force meeting will be this Tuesday, September 10th, in G-201 at lunch.
SOS CLUB (SUPPORT OUR SOLDIERS): If you are interested in helping our soldiers and veterans, come to Support Our Soldier’s first meeting. It will be on Wednesday, September 11 at lunch in room G-217. Hope to see you there!
The first HELPING HANDS club meeting will be today in room B3 during lunch. This is a mandatory meeting for all students interested.
The ROLEPLAYING CLUB will be meeting on the 13 of September, not the 6th.
MATH HONOR SOCIETY: Canyon High is going to have a Math Honors Society (Mu Alpha Theta) and we want YOU to join! If you have competed Algebra and Geometry and are currently in a math course you can become a full member in Mu Alpha Theta. If you are in Algebra or Geometry right now, but still want to join the fun you can become an associative member. So what is this club about??? Math! We'll be holding contests, looking at professions in math and science, and applying for scholarship. If the math nerd in you is fired up, come by G216, Mrs. Denny's room to get an application. We'll have an informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept 10th at lunch and applications are due on Thursday Sept 12th. Do Math!
OPERATION US: Our next meeting is Thurs. Sept. 12 in E3 at 12:30. Please bring your completed permission slip to the meeting. If you were not at our first meeting but you would like to be involved in Operation US please see Ms. Mast in E3.
NATIONAL ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY applicants, if you were unable to attend last week’s meeting and still want to apply pick up an application by Thursday Sept 12th in C-1. All applications are due to C-1 no later than Friday September 13th.
POKEMON CLUB is getting its own mega evolution! Talk about X and Y. Discuss new strategies and more. Come to the meeting today in B-6 at lunch.

SENIOR BBQ is Tuesday, September 10th !! Place your order online to the link provided on the class twitter, also on the Canyon High School website home page. If you did not purchase a Senior Fun Pack and would still like to go to the BBQ, you can buy a ticket for $10 at the ASB window!
*Are you interested in attending any of the Military Academies (Navy - Annapolis, West Point, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, Merchant Marine Academy)? To go you will need to have a Congressional Appointment and to learn about that process come to an informational meeting September 11, 2013 @ 7pm at College of the Canyons University Center.
