GENERAL
DRESS CODE AT CANYON: Students are reminded about the dress code at Canyon High School. Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through, backless, swim suit tops and strapless shirts are NOT ALLOWED! Short shorts are also NOT ALLOWED! Gang styles, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed. T-Shirts with graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence, or sexual activities are prohibited.
CANYON’S very own Econ teacher Mr. Smith will have his new release WINGER available for signing and purchase at the first Summer Meltdown fundraiser of the year at the Valencia Barnes and Noble Book fair on Friday, August 23 from 4-7pm. Meet local authors, and help raise funds for YES I CAN!
TEXTBOOK CENTER: Textbook Damage Forms are due by Friday, Sept 6th. Drop them in the blue crates in the library or textbook center. If you have lost yours from registration see Mrs. Kulesz to get another. Don’t get stuck paying for someone else’s damage, return your form.
CSF - Applications for CSF (California Scholarship Federation) will be available until now through Friday, Aug. 30 in the library. You can also access the application online through the library website. Look for the CSF link on the left side of the web page.
MEN’S CHAMBER ENSEMBLE: Every Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday at lunch the fabulous, award-winning Men's Chamber Ensemble meets. If you are interested in joining this great group of guys, please see Mrs. Purdy today in the A lecture Hall. If you like to sing and you are a male, you'll want to be part of this group! Come and find out what this is all about!
SAFE RIDES: Do you want to save lives and be involved in supporting our community? If so, then Safe Rides can help you. There will be training for new volunteers Saturday, August 24th at 11:00 am in the Activity Center on Centre Pointe Parkway - by the Skate Park. For more information go to scvsaferiders.com

ROP: Learn about a career field by taking the ROP Career Internship class this Fall. Students complete an unpaid internship at a local business and earn class credit while gaining career experience. The class starts on Sept. 9 and there is still time to sign up. The class is available to students 16 and older. See your ROP Specialist or the ROP website (www.hartrop.com) for details. Applications must be turned into your ROP Specialist by 8/28.
MEETINGS
LATIN DANCE CLUB: Are you interested in learning more about the Latino/a Culture? Do you want to learn traditional dances from México? Come and join us in our meeting this Wednesday (Today) during lunch in room D-5. No experience is required and everyone is welcome. Hope to see you there.
The Canyon ROLE PLAYING CLUB will be meeting on Friday August 23 from 3 pm-5 pm in G 107. If you are interested in computer RPGs like final fantasy and world of warcraft, you should try this. We will be introducing the idea of roleplaying games and making characters during this meeting.

BOYS SOCCER TEAM TRYOUTS: Tryouts from Monday August 19 to Thursday August, 22 @ Sierra Vista from 3:30 / 5:00
BOYS' BASKETBALL TRYOUTS will take place TODAY after school in the main gym from 3-4. If you have any questions please stop by G-208 and speak with Coach De Long.
GIRLS' SOCCER TRYOUTS will take place TODAY, Wednesday, August 21 from 3:30 - 5:00 at Sierra Vista. If you have any questions please see the website or stop by G-202 and speak with Coach Rusk.
GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS will be held this week on Thursday, August 22 in the main gym from 3:00-4:30.
ALL 9th and 10th grade boys interested in playing VOLLEYBALL see Coach Cody in the boy’s locker room PE office.
