GENERAL

 

HEY COWBOYS!!  THIS WEEK IS SPRING SPIRIT WEEK!  Wednesday is College t-shirt day, Thursday is Disney Day and Friday is Blue vs. Pink day.  Monday –Thursday there will be lunchtime activities dedicated to these themes.  Come check it out and win some pizza.

 

FOOD DAY #4:  This Wednesday, please come to the outdoor stage where all clubs and organizations will be selling food at lunch to help raise money for their group.  Bring cash and enjoy some crazy good food. Again, Wed at lunch. See you there.

 

THE DANCE TEAM will be having their end-of-the-year show May 11th.  Do you want to give a "Shout Out" to one of the dancers?  You CAN for only $3!  So in 15 words or less, let your favorite dancer know how awesome they are.  Come by Mrs. Denny's room G216 to pick up an order form.  Remember $3 gets you 15 words in the Dance Showcase program.  Orders are due by May 2nd so don't delay! 

 

ACADEMIC AWARD RECIPENTS:  If you did not attend the ceremony, please go to the Assistant Principals Office during BRUNCH and LUNCH ONLY beginning Monday, April 29 to pick up your award.  Awards will not be distributed outside of these times.  Congratulations!

 

HEY JUNIORS!!  Do you want an amazing Senior Shirt next year?   Turn in your shirt designs before summer break to the ASB Office.  Paperwork is available now!

 

DID YOU KNOW APRIL is National Poetry Month?  Well, National English Honor Society is hosting a poetry contest and the winner will receive a $25 Starbucks card.  Poems are due by May 2 to Mrs. Priesz in room AA-4!  It can be about anything you’d like, so get writing!

 

CONGRATULATIONS to Alli Barton!  She has been selected by Pepperdine University for their 36th Annual Youth Citizenship Seminar.  She has been invited for an all-expense paid 4-day summit in June at their Malibu campus.  Congrats again to Alli!

 

SUMMER MELTDOWN PRE-SALE TICKETS on sale for $15 ALL THIS WEEK on the outdoor stage during both brunches and lunch.  The 10th Annual Summer Meltdown Art and Music Festival will be held on Saturday, May 4th at the Santa Clarita Skate Park and Grass Field.  3 stages, over 40 musical acts including bands, artist, and DJs.  There will be food trucks, vendors, non-profit boots, community and interactive art displays, and professional skate and bike demos. CONGRATULATIONS Kristianne Yabut , Brandon Shapiro, Cameron Micale, Leta Max Perriello!!!  They won each a movie ticket at the Career and College Fair last week!

 

 

DANCE TEAM TRYOUTS ARE HERE!  Yes, it's time to try out for the Award-Winning Canyon Dance Team!  Don't know how to dance but think you've got what it takes?  We want to see your moves!  Whether you are an experienced dancer or a new-comer, there is a place for you on the dance team.  Come by Mrs. Denny's room G216 and pick up an information packet.    Dance tryouts are Saturday, May 4th in the auxiliary gym.   We hope to see you there!

 

HEY CLASS OF 2014--THAT IS YOU JUNIORS!! Personalized Parking Spot Paperwork is available outside of the ASB office.  Paperwork is due May 17th by 1:00 p.m. Remember, first come –first serve!

 

ATTENTION ALL ARTISTS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS: YES I CAN is collecting submissions to be displayed at the Summer Meltdown Arts and Music Festival on May 4th at the Santa Clarita Skate park and Field.  If interested, stop by C 3 and speak with Ms. Lamedman, ask your art teacher, or talk to Enrique Gallagos, Austin Leinbach, Katie Hermosura, or David Ponce. Showcase your art or enter contests.

MEETINGS

 

ANIME club is meeting today in G-220 at lunch. Come join the fun!

 

OPERATION US:  We will be having our last meeting of the year on Wednesday May 1st at lunch in E3. All members are encouraged to attend! Club officers and Operation US seniors, please see Ms. Mast ASAP if you will not be at the meeting.

 

SENIORS

SENIORS, Graduation speech auditions will be held on Tuesday, May 7, from 1-4 in the Administration building.  Information and signups are at Ms. Liedblad's desk, just outside the AP offices.  Time slots are available on a first come first served basis.  Represent the Class of 2013!

 

SENIORS:  Are you of Filipino ancestry with a 3.5 GPA?  If so, there is a $1000 scholarship that you might qualify for!  Please pick up an application in the counseling office.  The scholarship deadline is May 10th.

 

SENIORS:  Are you planning to attend CSUN next year?  There are scholarships specifically for you.  Please pick up a paper in the counseling office with all the information.  The deadline to apply is May 3rd, and some require a letter of recommendation, so make sure to stop by TODAY!

 

WERE YOU ACCEPTED TO ATTEND UCLA NEXT YEAR? The Santa Clarita Bruins are offering a $500 dollar scholarship.  Please pick up your application in the counseling office.  Applications must be post marked by May 4th.

THE SEIJI ISOMOTO SCHOLARSHIP FUND is offering a $1000 scholarship.  To apply you must have a 3.0 GPA, have at least one parent that is Asian, and have lettered in a high school varsity sport.  Applications are available in the counseling office.

 

THE CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION has $500 scholarships available for CSF seal bearers. Please stop by the library to pick up the scholarship application instructions. The submission deadline for all applicants is May 17th.
