GENERAL
JAZZ POP: Are you looking for a fun night of music? Come to Canyon's Jazz Pop Concert on March 22nd and 23rd at 7:30 in the main gym featuring all of the choirs, the Jazz Ensemble, and some great solo acts. Come and hear some of your favorite love songs from the 1940s to today. Tickets are on sale now in the choir room for $7.00 for adults and students without an ASB card; students with an ASB card are $5. See you there!
ARE YOU A RESPONSIBLE, ORGANIZED DEDICATED STUDENT WITH GOOD ATTENDANCE? Do you like to help others in their classes? Are you a strong math, English and/or science students? Ask your counselor about becoming a REACH tutor, and earn a letter grade for your services! If you have any questions, see Mrs. Hanks in C7 as soon as possible, so you can earn your spot as a REACH peer tutor (looks great on college applications, and is great experience for future educators)
ATTENTION ALL PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS: Make-up opportunities for absences, nondresses, medical excuses, or parent notes will occur every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:30 am. Meet out on the track at 7:30 am. If no student’s show by 7:35, then the opportunity to make things up is over. We start the make ups at exactly 730 to allow for enough time to complete the make-up.
PROM TICKETS ARE ON SALE!! $200 per couple w/ASB card, $210 w/out. All paperwork MUST be filled out in full. Be ready to sign up for your Promenade room when you buy your tickets. ARE YOU UP TO THE YEARBOOK CHALLENGE? We are looking for next year's best writers, photographers, designers, and reporters to make the 2014 book the best it can be. If you are going to be a sophomore or junior and are a hard worker, then pick up an application to the 2014 yearbook staff. Applications are available in the counseling office or from Mr. McCann in the T building.

Gnomon School of Visual Effects has three different opportunities for high school students, Students can choose from one-week summer programs in June, weekend workshops: drawing for the entertainment industry, digital painting, character sculpture, digital sculpture, and 3-D animation, games, and visual effects, or from more than 55 10-week interactive on-line classes in 14 categories covering software courses available: Maya, 3D Studio Max, Houdini, ZBrush, BodyPaint, Photoshop, Nuke, After Effects, Cinema 4D, MARI, Motion Builder, Unreal, V-ray, mental ray, Fume FX, and Python. THE SUMMER ART INSTITUTE will be offering 3 units of college credit (5 credits at CHS) in painting, drawing, photography, or sculpture. These are excellent ways to enhance a college application.
ASVAB TESTING: Canyon will be hosting the ASVAB test on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. The test will be given in the A-Lecture Hall starting at 8:00 am. Taking the ASVAB while in high school is the only time students can take the ASVAB as a skills and vocational assessment test. The test is available for sophomores, juniors and seniors. If you are looking to find your academic strengths, possible future career options or are interested in exploring the military, this is a great time to take advantage of this FREE opportunity on our campus. Please sign-up in the counseling office ASAP to reserve your spot, as spaces are limited. The LAST day to sign up IS TODAY
DO YOU ENJOY designing, writing, math, physics, construction, and art? If the answer is yes, you might want to learn more about careers in the Engineering and Design Industry! Join us in the library at lunch on March 28th to hear about some opportunities available through COC to prepare for a career in Engineering and Design. Stop by the library to check out the architectural models on display. Program attendees may have the opportunity to earn extra credit for attending. (The library tables will be closed at lunch on the 28th for the presentation; be sure to make other study plans that day.)

Please plan on attending the next GSA( Gay/Straight Alliance) Club meeting Thursday, March 28 in Room C-1 during lunch. All members should plan on attending because yearbook club photos will be taken at the meeting!
