GENERAL

 

Are you a JUNIOR?  Are you interested in attending a 5-day Youth Citizenship Seminar at Pepperdine University (in Malibu) this summer (June 17th to June 21st)?  If you would like to be nominated for this leadership opportunity, please give your see your counselor.  Canyon can nominate up to two boys and two girls for this summer leadership program. 

 

JAZZ/POP AUDITIONS ARE COMING TODAY.  Sign ups for an audition time are on the door of the choir room.  If you missed the informational meeting last month, please see Mrs. Purdy today!  Auditions are open to anyone in the whole school, so sign up for an audition slot.

BIG COLLEGE EVENT!  Mark your calendar for Wed, July 31st at 7pm or Thursday August 1st at 7pm!  Over 50 private colleges from across the country will be at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City on this date.  For more info go to  www.CTCL.org   (CTCL is for Colleges That Change Lives).

 

MEETINGS

 

ATTENTION ANIME CLUB!!  Today at lunch we are meeting in the SENIOR QUAD for YEARBOOK PHOTOS!! We want all club members present, so be there--today, lunch, senior quad, ANIME club!

 

ALL OPERATION US members need to meet Wed. Feb. 20, at lunch, in room E-3. We have a few things to discuss for the end of the year. See you Wednesday!

 

BIBLE CLUB--Come to the Bible Club on Thursday at lunch in the choir room.  Get some food and enjoy some time with other students.  Everyone is welcome.

 

SENIORS

 

THE SANTA CLARITA EMBLEM CLUB is offering the Vi Athenstead Scholarship worth 800 to 1000 dollars.  There are four scholarships to be awarded.  There is no GPA qualifier.  Any senior with community service should apply.  The applications are in the counseling office and must be mailed in by February 15th

 

 

SENIORS!!!  Did you want to attend a 4-year college but have not applied anywhere yet?  Arizona State University is still take applications for their Lake Havasu campus.  Some degree options are:  Communication, General Studies, Life Sciences (Biology), Organizational Leadership, and Psychology.   Tuition runs about $9,000 a year and rooms are $4,950.  For NEW full-time students apply for $1,000 scholarship through Havasu Foundation of Higher Educations Scholarships.  Their requirements are very similar to the A-G, with a 3.0 GPA requirement (or be in the top 25% of your class).  Must have a 24 on the ACT or 1110 on the SAT.  If you have questions contact their Admissions Counselor - Laura Shuffler at 928.854.9707 or e-mail her at [email protected]

 

SENIORS: If you plan to study in a field related to education after graduation there is 500 dollar scholarship for you.  Please pick up an application for the SCV Education Foundation scholarship in the counseling office.
