CANYON HIGH SCHOOL

GENERAL

Fri Feb 15th is the Boys' Basketball teams 1st round CIF Playoff game.  They play at Lawndale at 7pm.  On Saturday is our Girls 1st Round Playoff Game.  They Play Channel Islands at 7pm at Canyon.  Because this is a CIF contest, ASB cards do not provide free admission.  General admission is $8 and Students with a school ID pay $5.  Come out and Support your Boys' and Girls' programs.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CANYON DANCE TEAM!  Varsity won two 1st place trophies and Hip Hop won 2nd place at the West Coast Elite Dance Competition this past Saturday!  Way to go Cowboys!!

CONGRATULATIONS HONOR BAND MEMBERS: The following students were selected for the Hart District Honor Band:  Lauren DeFigueiredo, Anders Ferling, Matt Harrington, Jacob McMahon, Alondra Pena, Katherine Pittman, Timmy Tomizawa and Gaby Valladares.  They will be performing in concert at Hart High School on Saturday, March 2nd at 7:30pm

WOODEN ROSE ANNOUNCEMENT:  Having trouble finding the perfect gift for your special someone on Valentine’s Day?  We have just the thing for you!  Canyon ASB is selling wooden roses for just a dollar!!  They look exactly like real roses but last FOREVER!  We are selling them during brunch and lunch, so hurry and buy your while supplies last!

MEETINGS

CALLING ALL SCIENCE GEEKS!!  Canyon High's Chemistry Club is now forming, come to K-5 on Thursday at lunch to find out more.  Chemistry is the coolest thing going - just ask Mr. Nelson, Mr. Milasich or Mr. Downs.

SENIORS

CALLING ALL MEN!  Don’t forget to register for Selective Service within 30 days of your 18th birthday. Registering keeps you eligible for financial aid, government jobs and job training. It’s quick. It’s easy. And it’s the law. To register in less than 2 minutes, go to www.sss.gov.

SENIORS - If you are interested in learning about Charter College, please sign up in the Counseling Office.  Charter College will here TODAY during 5th period.  Have pizza and spend about 30 minutes learning about their program.  This is a vocational college here in Canyon Country.

THE SANTA CLARITA EMBLEM CLUB is offering the Vi Athenstead Scholarship worth 800 to 1000 dollars.  There are four scholarships to be awarded.  There is no GPA qualifier.  Any senior with community service should apply.  The applications are in the counseling office and must be mailed in by February 15^th

SENIORS: If you plan to study in a field related to education after graduation there is 500 dollar scholarship for you.  Please pick up an application for the SCV Education Foundation scholarship in the counseling office.
