GENERAL

 

ROP - The last day to drop your ROP class is Wednesday, January 30, 2012.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office.

 

LOOKING FOR SOME HOMEWORK HELP?  The Canyon Country Public Library will be presenting Homework Help: online tutoring, practice tests, and more available through the Santa Clarita Public library on Tuesday, January 29th 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the Meeting Room at JoAnn Darcy Library. If you have questions you can call (661) 251-2720 for more information. Hope to see you there!

 

DRESS CODE VIOLATION:  Have you been recently asked to change your shirt due to a dress code violation?  Did Canyon Administration give you a Canyon t-shirt to wear for the day?  If so, please remember to wash and return the Canyon t-shirt to the Student Responsibility Center (SRC) to get your original shirt back.  You have 10 days to return for the Canyon  t-shirt and pick up your original shirt.  Canyon High School is not responsible for articles of clothing left in the SRC after 10 days. 

 

OPEN PERIOD STICKERS:   If you need an Open Period Sticker on the back of your ID card for this semester, please bring BOTH your ID card AND your printed or digital schedule to the AP office before school, at brunch, or lunch all this week.  We will process as many as we can each day.  Please be patient and carry your printed schedule with you until your stickers are assigned correctly.

 

ATTENTION, ATTENTION ALL SENIORS AND JUNIORS:  Sign-ups for the Prom Fashion Show are starting NOW.  Paperwork is available outside of the ASB Office.  Sign-ups will end February 1.  First come first serve.

 

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS AND DFY-IT MEMBERS!  TODAY in the main gym, there will be a speaker that is coming in to talk about his/her experience with addiction, drug use, and life experiences as a result of those choices.  Do you or someone you know battle or have battled addiction?  Are you interested in hearing his or her story?  Or just interested in attending? Please come join us this Friday at lunch in the main gym to hear the speaker share his/her story.  It will definitely be an experience to remember.  

 

HAVE YOU CHEDKED THE DUE DATE OF YOUR LIBRARY BOOK? You can find it inside the front cover. Remember to return or renew your books on time and avoid annoying fines that start to add up quickly. BLOOD DRIVE:  There will be a blood drive on Wednesday, February 6th in the auxiliary gym.  If you are at least 16 years old, you are eligible to donate.  Please pick up a permission slip in room E-5. 

 

CSF - Bring your complete application for CSF to the library this week during lunch only -no exceptions. Complete applications include these items:

HEY COWBOYS!  If you are ordering lunch (pizza etc.) for a club, sport, or yourself –please let

Mrs. Ruppert, in the front office, know.  That way we can make sure you are contacted and the delivery person doesn’t have to wait a long time for you to arrive.  Also, remember to include a tip for the delivery person….

MEETINGS

 

FCA MEETINGS have started up again TODAY during lunch in room G-206!  Come join us –All are welcome.  There will be lots of food and tons of fun.  See you there.

 

HEY SOS MEMBERS:  There will be a meeting TODAY at lunch in A-Lecture Hall.  See you there!

 

CANYON'S first GSA (Gay/Straight Alliance) Meeting will be held on Thurs., February 7th during lunch in A-Lecture Hall. We are still accepting applications for the position of secretary. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. Try something new this semester like joining a club. It is a great way to meet new people.

 

 

ATTENTION ALL DFY IT MEMBERS: Our next meeting TODAY in the main gym.  We will be having a speaker and have opened up the presentation to the whole school.  We will also be taking a group picture, and signing in for attendance.  If you are a current DFYIT member, you must be at the meeting.  If you are interested in joining DFY IT you can pick up a contract from Ms. K that day, and if you just want to come see the speaker please come!  See you all at lunch, Friday January 25th in the main gym.

 

HEY KEY CLUBBERS!  We have a meeting February 6 in A-Lecture at lunch!  Hours for last semester are due the first week of February and can be turned in at the meeting.

 

THE ROLEPLAYING CLUB will be having a character building and level-raising day TODAY after school in K4 from 3 to 5:30.  If you have a character, please come to have your character updated and corrected.   If you are interested in roleplaying the Pathfinder system, please come to have a character created.   Regular club will be next Friday February 1st from 3 to 7.   Please come by if you like computer roleplaying games and would like to try table-top games. 

 

SENIORS

 

THE SANTA CLARITA EMBLEM CLUB is offering the Vi Athenstead Scholarship worth 800 to 1000 dollars.  There are four scholarships to be awarded.  There is no GPA qualifier.  Any senior with community service should apply.  The applications are in the counseling office and must be mailed in by February 15th.

 

THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION is offering at least 20 scholarships just for Canyon seniors.  The biggest scholarship is five thousand dollars!  Every senior that needs financial aid should fill out this application!  Applications can be found in the counseling office and are due by February 1st to Mrs. Goller.
