GENERAL 

 

TODAY, DECEMBER 5th, the Boys Varsity Basketball team will be playing a home game here at Canyon @ 7:30 p.m. vs. Lancaster. This game is the first round of the 13th Annual Canyon Classic.  

 

BAND MEMBERS:  Please CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND located just opposite the Health Office for any items you may have left behind.  Many items were placed in there recently, all coming from Band.

 

NO STUDENT SUMMONS DURING FINAL EXAMS:  STUDENTS please note, there are NO student summons delivered during Final Exams.  Please do NOT call your parents and ask them to excuse you early for any reason.  The Attendance Office WILL NOT deliver student summons during Final Exams to remove you from class.  All students need to stay during the entire final exam period out of respect for all the other classes in exams.

 

WINTER FORMAL COURT NOMINATIONS are open this week.  Go to www.tallyspace.com .  Voting will be next week and court will be announced before winter break.

 

THERE IS A VARSITY FOOTBALL MEETING TODAY IN G-210 beginning at 2:15.  Anyone interested in playing and any returners from last year’s squad should attend this meeting.

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  If you participated in the Pampered Chef fundraiser in any way, the orders will be here on Thursday, December 13 at lunch in D-2.  Make sure to pick up the orders you collected so that you have them for the holidays! GRACIAS!!

ACADEMIC AWARD RECIPENTS:  If you did not attend the ceremony, please go to the Assistant Principals Office no later than Thursday, December 19 to pick up your award.  They will be available before and after school, and during lunch and brunch.  Congratulations!

 

COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS REPRESENTATIVE Visits at Canyon High School:  An Outreach & School Relations representative from College of the Canyons will be on our campus to assist interested students learn more about the college’s admissions process; certificates, degrees and transfer programs; and student support programs and services.  Visits have been scheduled to allow all students the opportunity to meet with the representative in our Counseling Office during both brunch periods and lunch. During periods 4 and 5, prospective students interested in receiving personalized assistance may schedule a 15-minute advising session with the representative.  Please visit the Counseling Office to book an advising session.  COC Rep Visits will occur on the following dates for 2012: December 10th

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY will meet in room T4 on Thursday at lunch for our club photo. Please wear your club t shirt.

 

FCA MEETING: Is this Friday during lunch in room G-206!  There will be pizza and lots of fun!

 

THE BIBLE CLUB will meet on Thursday at lunch in the choir room.  Everyone is welcome!

LATIN DANCE CLUB: Is going to take place during lunch and after school in room D-5. Anyone is welcome and no experience is required, it is a club to learn the dances.

 

SENIORS

 

ATTENTION CSF SENIORS-You are eligible for a $1000 essay contest scholarship. To find out more about this scholarship, stop by the library or counseling office to pick up paper work. The completed essay is December 22nd, so pick up the paperwork ASAP.

 

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION:  Students must give the counselors at least 7 days advance notice for letters of recommendations.  Make sure you complete a request for a letter of recommendation form before you give your application to your counselor.  (See Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office if you need a form).  Don’t wait until the last minute!  Counselors will not be writing letters of recommendation on the last day of school or over the winter break.
