GENERAL

 

NO STUDENT SUMMONS DURING FINAL EXAMS:  STUDENTS please note, there are NO student summons delivered during Final Exams.  Please do NOT call your parents and ask them to excuse you early for any reason.  The Attendance Office WILL NOT deliver student summons during Final Exams to remove you from class.  All students need to stay during the entire final exam period out of respect for all the other classes in exams.

 

THERE IS A VARSITY FOOTBALL MEETING on Wednesday afternoon in G-210 beginning at 2:15.  Anyone interested in playing and any returners from last year’s squad should attend this meeting.

 

LOOKING FOR THAT PERFECT HOLIDAY GIFT? Canyon's GSA (Gay/Straight Alliance) Club is holding a Photo Session Fund Raiser Saturday, December 8th from 2-4pm. For only $100, David & Lynn Photography will give you a 15-min photo session at the beautiful Todd Longshore Park. All proceeds go directly to Canyon's GSA Club! Flyers are available in the Counseling Office and C-1.

 

ACADEMIC AWARD RECIPENTS:  If you did not attend the ceremony, please go to the Assistant Principals Office no later than Thursday, December 19 to pick up your award.  They will be available before and after school, and during lunch and brunch.  Congratulations!

 

 

 

 

 

 

COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS REPRESENTATIVE Visits at Canyon High School:  An Outreach & School Relations representative from College of the Canyons will be on our campus to assist interested students learn more about the college’s admissions process; certificates, degrees and transfer programs; and student support programs and services.  Visits have been scheduled to allow all students the opportunity to meet with the representative in our Counseling Office during both brunch periods and lunch. During periods 4 and 5, prospective students interested in receiving personalized assistance may schedule a 15-minute advising session with the representative.  Please visit the Counseling Office to book an advising session.  COC Rep Visits will occur on the following dates for 2012: December 10th

 

MEETINGS

 

ANIME club is meeting today in G-220 at lunch. Come join the fun!

 

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY will meet in room T4 on Thursday at lunch for our club photo. Please wear your club t shirt.

 

THE BIBLE CLUB will meet on Thursday at lunch in the choir room.  Everyone is welcome!

 

DON’T MISS YOUR LAST CHANCE this semester to check out the GSA (Gay/Straight Alliance) Club.  Come one, come all! Thursday during lunch in A-Lecture Hall...see you there!

 

FCA MEETING: Is this Friday during lunch in room G-206!  There will be pizza and lots of fun!

 

SENIORS

 

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION: TODAY at lunch in the B-Lecture Hall, the Canyon Counseling Staff will be talking about scholarships.  If you plan to go to a 2 year, 4 year, or trade school after graduation, you should come!  Most of our scholarships become available second semester.  We will be handing out an application that will qualify you for at least 20 local scholarships. 

 

ATTENTION CSF SENIORS-You are eligible for a $1000 essay contest scholarship. To find out more about this scholarship, stop by the library or counseling office to pick up paper work. The completed essay is December 22nd, so pick up the paperwork ASAP.

 

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION:  Students must give the counselors at least 7 days advance notice for letters of recommendations.  Make sure you complete a request for a letter of recommendation form before you give your application to your counselor.  (See Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office if you need a form).  Don’t wait until the last minute!  Counselors will not be writing letters of recommendation on the last day of school or over the winter break.
