CANYON SOFTBALL TRYOUTS will be THIS week at the Softball Field. Dates: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY –Time: 2:30 (registration starts), **Note** Tryouts may continue until 5pm or dusk depending how many girls we get through each day. **Make Up Dates** Mon. - Tues (11/19 & 11/20)
BOYS TENNIS TRYOUTS: All boys interested in playing on the tennis team in the spring need to attend tryouts on November 13-15 (Tuesday through Thursday) on the courts after school. Tryouts should run until 4pm each day.
BASEBALL TRYOUTS will be November 19th and 20th after school on the baseball field...stop by room B-5 for more information.
MRS. MAGON’S after school Targeted Intervention today is canceled and will resume November 29th.
ATTENTION COWBOYS! The SCV American Red Cross youth corps will be having an emergency kit drive to provide needy families with survival kits that will last 4-7 days. Each high school will be hosting a drive for a specific item needed in these kits. Canyon’s Red Cross club has been assigned to host a drive for books and magazines, new or used, from November 13th-23rd. Please participate and bring your donations to the library. We’ll be also giving community service hours depending on the number of books and magazines you donate. Help save a life cowboys and donate!
INTRAMURAL FOOTBALL. Sign ups for intramural football are taking place this week in room C-5. All our welcome. Please sign up at both brunches and lunch!
HEY KEY CLUBBERS—need hours?? Help a child in need this holiday season, by participating in the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles toy drive. Please make sure toys are new and sealed for sanitary purposes. Some favorite items are Barbie’s, action figures, coloring books, crayons, markers, journals, and board games. Bring donations to V-1 before school, after school, or brunch or lunch!
College of the Canyons Representative Visits at Canyon High School: An Outreach & School Relations representative from College of the Canyons will be on our campus to assist interested students learn more about the college’s admissions process; certificates, degrees and transfer programs; and student support programs and services. Visits have been scheduled to allow all students the opportunity to meet with the representative in our Counseling Office during both brunch periods and lunch. During periods 4 and 5, prospective students interested in receiving personalized assistance may schedule a 15-minute advising session with the representative. Please visit the Counseling Office to book an advising session.

STUDENTS: Are you interested in becoming involved in a ‘Major Pathway’? You first may ask, what is a ‘Major Pathway’? Major Pathways are directed courses that will align you with a major in college or a career after you graduate from Canyon High School. We will be offering four ‘Major Pathways’ in the areas of Culinary Arts, Automotive Technology, Health Sciences, and Media and Design Arts. Please pick up a brochure in the Counseling Office or from the Pathway Advisor for more information.
THE MAJOR PATHWAY FOR TODAY IS HEALTH SCIENCES. Health Science occupations are one of the most popular career paths and has to offer a variety of options in the field. Studying to become a Medical Assistant or Laboratory Technician will take time, but there are courses here at Canyon High School that can prepare you for these careers. Working as a Dental Assistant or Hygienist or becoming a Registered Nurse are all areas of which this Major Pathway can offer you guidance on. Visit Mrs. Gaines in the ROP Office or talk to your Counselor about this exciting opportunity!

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY--- MANDATORY MEETING today at lunch to work on Tobacco Cemetery.
OPERATION US: We will be presenting at Mitchell Elementary on November 30th. Please join us at lunch TODAY in E3 to pick up your permission slip and to help us prepare.
Attention all DFY IT MEMBERS! There will be a meeting in H-1 this Friday Nov. 16th at lunch for all those member interested in becoming an office for the DFY IT Club. The positions are- President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Historian. We will have a representative out from DFY IT to talk with you more in depth about each of the positions. See you there at lunch this Friday H-1.
SENIORS
ATTENTION CSF SENIORS-You are eligible for a $1000 essay contest scholarship. To find out more about this scholarship, stop by the library or counseling office to pick up paper work. The completed essay is December 22nd, so pick up the paperwork asap.
SENIOR YEARBOOK ADS: Hey seniors drop the hint to your parents that ad space is now on sale in the back of the yearbook. Visit the yearbook website or yearbookforever.com for more info on purchasing. Sales are through the end of November.
