“DFYIT” (Drug Free Youth in Town) is a free, school-based, voluntary, anti-drug Club for high school teens. In DFYIT, teens thrive, drug free, in a Club run by kids, for kids. The goal is to provide a positive peer network that supports healthy choices and a drug-free lifestyle. School personnel and city staff work with teen leaders (Club officers) on local high school campuses to develop, coordinate, and supervise on-campus events, community service projects and educational workshops that promote a drug free lifestyle. On campus Club meetings are held regularly to discuss drug-related issues and to highlight local supportive services. Our first meeting is next Monday September 24th in the Auxiliary gym. Bring yourself and maybe even a friend to get involved and have fun.

CANYON HIGH SCHOOL will be hosting a COLLEGE TESTING AND COLLEGE ADMISSIONS READINESS Seminar for parents and students on Thursday, September 20, 2012 (Back to School Night) from 6 - 6:30 pm in the Canyon Library. This event is FREE and open to all Canyon juniors and seniors and their parents or guardians. The seminar will be run by College Admissions Expert and UCLA graduate, Robert Schwartz, Director of Community Outreach for Eureka Review. The CSU and UC application windows for 2013 will be opening in just over two weeks and there is no more important time for seniors to make sure they know the application process and learn secrets to admissions success. Juniors need to prepare for testing and learn tips that can make the difference in their senior year. Seating will be limited and can only be offered on a first come, first seated basis. Historically, this event has only had standing room, so please be sure to show up a few minutes early.
THE UCLA SCHOOL OF THEATER, FILM AND TELEVISION will be hosting Information Sessions in the Fall for prospective students, counselors, and educators. Learn about the Theater and Film Programs at UCLA. Our presentation includes information about our two departments, the application process for our graduate and undergraduate programs, the portfolio/audition/interview requirements, and other UCLA resources. These events are FREE and are open to all prospective students, parents, and counselors. Please go to: http://www.canyonhighcowboys.org/ (under NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS) for dates/times/locations of these events.
