DRESS CODE: Students are reminded about the dress code at Canyon High School. Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through, backless and strapless shirts and swim suit tops are NOT ALLOWED! Also, gang styles, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed. T-shirts with graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence, or sexual activities are prohibited.
HEALTH OFFICE: When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office. It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home. Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office.

C0LLEGE OF THE CANYONS REPRESENTATIVE VISITS AT CANYON HIGH SCHOOL: An Outreach & School Relations representative from College of the Canyons will be on our campus to assist interested students learn more about the college’s admissions process; certificates, degrees and transfer programs; and student support programs and services. Visits have been scheduled to allow all students the opportunity to meet with the representative in our Counseling Office during both brunch periods and lunch. During periods 4 and 5, prospective students interested in receiving personalized assistance may schedule a 15-minute advising session with the representative. Please visit the Counseling Office to book an advising session.
COC Rep Visits will occur on the following dates for 2012:

IF YOU WERE IN ANY OF THE CHOIRS LAST YEAR and are unable to fit choir into your schedule this year, please see Mrs. Purdy today. The choirs need any choir dresses or tuxedos that you no longer need! Thank you!
BLOOD DRIVE! The next blood drive will be held at Canyon on September 27. If you are 16 or older and would like to donate blood and save a life come pick up paperwork in E-5 at brunch or lunch!
HEY COWBOYS!! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Wm. S. Hart School District’s second annual College and Career Fair TONIGHT from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Golden Valley High School. This free event is open to all high school students in the district, but is most appropriate for juniors and seniors. Representatives from 2-year and 4-year universities, career technical schools and apprenticeship programs will be participating. In addition to the fair, workshops on financial aid, Exploring the UC & CSU systems, Out-of-State College and freshmen admissions, Community College Programs and career preparation will be offered.

THE UCLA SCHOOL OF THEATER, FILM AND TELEVISION will be hosting Information Sessions in the Fall for prospective students, counselors, and educators.
Learn about the Theater and Film Programs at UCLA. Our presentation includes information about our two departments, the application process for our graduate and undergraduate programs, the portfolio/audition/interview requirements, and other UCLA resources. These events are FREE and are open to all prospective students, parents, and counselors.

BRAINSTORMERS! Do you know facts that no one else seems to know? Brainstormers tests your knowledge of everyday AND unusual facts. Do you know the names of the little people in German folklore who lived in lakes and rivers and were fond of music and dancing? Who was the king of England during the French and Indian War? Is a camel's hump made up mostly of air, bones, fat or water? Come to Brainstormers to find out! The Brainstormers meeting is today at lunch in room G216.
SENIORS
Are you thinking about college and you don't know where to apply? Are you a senior and you would like to get help with your college application for a CSU or UC or USC?
You are invited to these workshops/ presentations. You MUST sign up in the counseling office for the CSUN, USC, or UCLA. We will teach you about the application so you need to bring a transcript to and of these 3 workshops. Sign in on the clipboard in the office BEFORE these (CSUN or USC or UCLA) workshops. For the others, just report to H-1 and attendance will be taken at the workshop.
