GENERAL
ATTENTION: The Adult and Junior ASB cards will be at the football game TODAY. Tell your parents there is a separate table to pick them up at the Main Gate.
CANYON FOOTBALL GAMES: A reminder to students that once you enter the football game and leave, YOU MAY NOT RE-ENTER. If you need a sweater, blanket etc., remember to bring it in with you when you arrive. Skateboards and Scooters are NOT allowed in the stadium or parking lot—DO NOT BRING THEM WITH YOU!!! "Noisemakers are not allowed per CIF regulations and that using Noisemakers and result in a forfeit of the game." Since this is a school sponsored event, the Canyon High School DRESS CODE will be strictly enforced. ANY inappropriate attire (clothing, accessories, headgear or body paint) will result in entrance refusal and possible removal if non-compliant.
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS! There is a new Club on campus that we would like to introduce you to. It is called DFYIT (pronounced dee fy it ). It stands for Drug Free Youth in Town. The club is organized through the City of Santa Clarita and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. All the junior highs and high schools in the valley are coming together to fight the epidemic that is slowly taking control of our youth. We are reaching out to help those who need it and to prevent all of you from trying.
*The club is a great way to meet people, get involved in the community, and educate yourself about the growing problem of drugs in the student community in Santa Clarita.
*Are you wanting to learn more about DFYIT?
*Today in the Quad, is the annual kickoff event. Come learn about the club, visit the info booth and enjoy some great entertainment as a DJ kicks some tunes!!!!
TEXTBOOK CENTER- Textbook Damage Forms are due by Friday, Sept 7th. Drop them in the blue crates in the library or textbook center. If you have lost yours from registration see Mrs. Kulesz to get another. Don’t get stuck paying for someone else’s damage, return your form.
HEY COWBOYS!! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Wm. S. Hart School District’s second annual College and Career Fair on Thursday evening, September 13th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Golden Valley High School. This free event is open to all high school students in the district, but is most appropriate for juniors and seniors.
Representatives from 2-year and 4-year universities, career technical schools and apprenticeship programs will be participating. In addition to the fair, workshops on financial aid, Exploring the UC & CSU systems, Out-of-State College and freshmen admissions, Community College Programs and career preparation will be offered.

ROP classes begin August 20th. Students taking an ROP class this semester should stop by the ROP office to pick up your enrollment form for the first day of class. The ROP office is now located in the counseling department.
CSF It's the CSF Fall Membership Drive! Applications for CSF (California Scholarship Federation) will be available until Friday Aug. 24th. in the library. You can also access the application online through the library website. Look for the CSF link on the left side of the web page.
FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH PROGRAM: you participated in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program and wish to continue, you must submit a new application before September 12 otherwise services will automatically discontinue. Please go to the Health Office for a new application. If you already have a completed application, please submit it to the Health Office.
CANYON BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS: Dates: August 23--Times: 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.
Place: Sierra Vista Jr.
All players interested in playing Canyon Soccer must attend all days of tryouts. Scheduling conflicts should be worked out with Coach Lou Aguilera in person prior to tryouts.
Players must be on time. Bring cleats, shin guards and plenty of water.
SAFE RIDES TRAINING: A great way to get community service hours is volunteering at Safe Rides. There will be training for new volunteers Saturday August 25th at 11:00am in the Activity Center on Centre Point Parkway – by the Skate Park. For more information go to: scvsaferides.com. MEETINGS
CANYON BIBLE STUDY--TODAY the Canyon Bible Study will meet in the choir room at lunch. Any interested student is welcome!
EQUESTRIAN CLUB: Our first meeting of the Equestrian Club will be TODAY at lunch in T-1. If you ride horses or if you would like to compete for Canyon High School in IEL and would like to be in this exciting club, come by!
NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY will hold its first meeting TODAY at Lunch in room T4. New members welcome!
POLITICAL DEBATE CLUB will meet for the first time this Friday in room E1 at lunch. Bring your lunch and an open mind. This weeks topic will be the Nov. election.
