GENERAL

 

REPORT CARDS:   Students, please come pick up your reports cards from the AP Office during brunch or lunch this week.

 

SMILE CLUB UPDATE: Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft - often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life.

 

* Operation Smile is an international Children’s Medical Charity that transforms children's lives by through provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.

*As a mobilized force of medical professionals and volunteers with caring hearts, Operation Smile has provided more than 2 million patient evaluations and over 200,000 free surgeries for children and young adults’ surgery, forever changing their lives.

*On campus, we have Club Smile, with Eriky Moon as President.  The mission of the club is to do fund raising for Operation Smile.  Last year the Smile Club earned enough money to help three children have reconstructive surgery.  This children’s charity measures itself by the joy we see on all of the faces we help.  NEXT CLUB MEETING IS IN B-7 on Monday, March 26th at Lunch.  See you there!

 

ROP COSMETOLOGY - Application packages are now available for current juniors interested in starting the ROP Cosmetology program in August.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office to pick up your application.  Application deadline is April 10th, so don't miss out on this opportunity.

 

The ROP DENTAL ASSISTANT - Have you thought of being a Dental Assistant?  The ROP Dental Assistant class can save you thousands of dollars while you develop an employable skill.   Held at Charter College, it provides students the opportunity to earn their California State Dental Radiology Certification and certificates in Infection Control and Dental Practice Act.  Why not jump starts your career now?

 

ATTENTION ALL JUNIOR AND SENIORS: Powder Puff Applications are available outside of J-1. The deadline to turn them in is Wednesday, March 28th by 1:30pm to the ASB office.

 

SUMMER SCHOOL FORMS:  Summer school forms have arrived and are available in the front office and in the Counseling Office.  You may come by before or after school, or during brunch or lunch to pick up the forms.  Please notice that your parents need to sign these forms and that there are three pages of forms to complete.  You must complete all three forms and parent signatures are required on all three forms.

 

 

 

MEETINGS

 

BRAINSTORMERS:  Tonight is our district tournament.  Meet at the Saugus High multipurpose room at around 5:50 this afternoon.  Wear a Canyon shirt.  See Mrs. Harris if you have any questions.

 

CSF members, we will have a meeting in H1, Friday, March 30th at lunch. All members are encouraged to attend. We will be voting for officers for next year.

 

CAT CLUB:  The Cat Rescue club is meeting on Wednesday, March 28 in G216 at lunch.  Come by to discuss ways to help shelter cats and kittens.

 

IMPACT CLUB:  There is a meeting Wednesday, March 28.  We will be discussing officer positions for next year.  If you are interested in becoming an officer, be sure to come to the meeting.

 

There will be a MANDATORY NHS MEETING on Tuesday March 27, 2012 at lunch in Ms. Goodwin's room U-7.

 

GSA (Gay/Straight Alliance) Club Meeting Wednesday (3/28) during LUNCH in the B-Lecture Hall. See you there!

 

SENIORS

 

ARE YOU ATTENDING COC IN THE FALL?  :  If you are, please come to the A-Lecture Hall on Thursday, March 29th at lunch, where a representative from COC will be explaining their FYE program.  The First-Year Experience Program was designed to assist students with the difficult transition from high school to college.  Students who apply to the FYE program will participate in Cougar Days, FYE Orientation Days, benefit from FYE designated classes and workshops, have faculty mentors and receive early registration and guaranteed enrollment for the fall semester for a total of 12 units!  Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to start college off right!
