ATTENTION PARKING PASS HOLDERS AND SENIORS WITH PARKING SPOTS:  Starting tomorrow, Thursday, March 8, personalized Senior spots will go back into effect.  Parking in a numbered spot will result in a ticket.  Seniors---To find which number is yours, look on the window outside of J-1.

 

PROM PAPERWORK is available outside the ASB office.

 

THEATRE DEPARTMENT PRESENTS a Night of Comedy: Canyon's Improv Team and Sketch Troupe in their first joint show this Friday March 9th at 7 PM in the Q-Theatre. Tickets are $5. Don't miss it!

 

THE LIBRARY WILL NOT OPEN until 7:30 this Friday, the 9th. Be sure to make other before school plans. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

 

YEARBOOK STAFF APPLICATIONS: Are you hard-working and creative-minded Freshman or Sophomore? Looking to find out what it takes to create an amazing book that your classmates will have for the rest of their lives? Then apply to be on the 2013 canyon yearbook staff. Applications are now available in the counseling office or T-building.

 

ATTENTION JUNIORS:  What?!?  You still have not signed up for the SAT Prep Class?  TODAY and TOMORROW are the LAST DAYS to sign up.  Please pick up a flyer right away in either the AP or Counseling office, or visit our school website to download and print a flyer with all the information on it.   Call the number listed there:  1 (877) 209-9079   Sign up!   Tier One is one of the largest SAT prep class providers in Southern California.  Classes will be held on Wednesday afternoons and evenings for 6 weeks, starting next Wednesday, March 14th.   Go sign up!!!

 

ROP is currently signing up students for the fall semester.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office for more information.  You may also visit the ROP website at www.HartROP.com. 

 

CHEER TRYOUTS AND MANDATORY PARENT INFORMATION MEETINGS: The meetings are for returning and new parents. Parents must attend one meeting.  The meeting dates are Wednesday, March 7 and Monday, March 12 from 7-8 pm in the Canyon High School Library.  Information on the practice and tryout dates are on a flyer in the front office.

 

THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA is looking for mature, enthusiastic teens to fill Part-Time Camp Counselor job opportunities for current seniors (class of 2012) and Counselor-in-Training volunteer opportunities for sophomores and juniors.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office or for more information visit www.santa-clarita.com .

 ROP COSMETOLOGY - There will be an information meeting on Monday 3/12 at 12:30 for students and their parents interested in the ROP cosmetology program.  Information regarding the requirements and application process will be reviewed and applications for the fall semester will be made available at that time.

 

UC BERKELEY is having their annual CAL DAY on April 21st for interested students and their families.  It is free and goes from 9am to 4pm.  Listen to recorded information at 510.642.2294  and view a complete schedule of activities (over 300! guided tours, free family admission to their three museums ~ Lawrence Hall of Science, Hearst Museum of Anthropology, and Berkeley Art Museum ~, see the labs, classrooms, libraries, and residence halls AND you can go hear talks from faculty and student music performances and see student dance performances, or learn Swahili in one 30-minute lesson) available on-line March 29th at calday.berkeley.edu

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS: AP students will receive AP Exam Registration information starting TODAY.  AP Exam registration has started and run will run through March 16th, 1:00 PM.  Students may register before school, brunch or during lunch in the ASB office.  The fee for each test is $87, unless the student participates in the free or reduced lunch program.  Students can see Mrs. Schwamb in the Health Office to learn about this program.  Don’t forget to sign up!!!

POLITICAL DEBATE CLUB is meeting Friday, March 9 at lunch in room E-1.

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB (and other board games of skill) meet Friday in G-117.  Bring your lunch

 

BOOK CLUB meets today @ lunch in the library. Stop by and check us out! New members are always welcome.

SENIORS

 

SENIORS:  The SCV Association of California School Administrators is offering multiple scholarships ranging from 200 to 500 dollars.  To apply you need to have gone to a school in Santa Clarita for at least seven years (including at least one year of elementary school), have applied to a trade school, community college, or four year college, and have at least a 2.5 GPA.  If you qualify, please pick up an application in the counseling office.  Applications are due back to Mrs. Goller before March 26th.

 

SENIORS:  Are you planning a career in education?  If you have a GPA of at least 2.5 the SCV Education Foundation has a scholarship for you!  The application must be mailed in by March 16th.  Please come up to counseling office for an application.
