GENERAL

 

STUDENT TALENT RALLY:  Attention all you talented Cowboys!!!  Today is the last day to audition for the Student Talent Rally.  Auditions are TODAY in the gym at lunch   If you missed your audition yesterday, don’t miss out---AUDITION TODAY!!!

 

UC BERKELEY is having their annual CAL DAY on April 21st for interested students and their families.  It is free and goes from 9am to 4pm.  Listen to recorded information at 510.642.2294  and view a complete schedule of activities (over 300! guided tours, free family admission to their three museums ~ Lawrence Hall of Science, Hearst Museum of Anthropology, and Berkeley Art Museum ~, see the labs, classrooms, libraries, and residence halls AND you can go hear talks from faculty and student music performances and see student dance performances, or learn Swahili in one 30-minute lesson) available on-line March 29th at calday.berkeley.edu

 

SOPHOMORE GPS 2 COLLEGE - Tuesday, March 6, from 6:30 to 8 pm in the Canyon Library.  This is a free college preparation workshop for sophomore parents and students. Plan for the next two years and get a head start on the college application process and what can be done now to improve your chances at being accepted at the college of your choice. Learn from a panel of College Admissions and Testing Experts about the admissions and acceptance process at U.S. colleges and what you can do to optimize your chances of getting in! Topics will include: college admissions testing, general college admissions issues, essay writing and much more. Please sign up in the counseling office or feel free just to show up with your parents.

 

CSF will have a meeting for current members who are interested in an officer position for the 2012-2013 school year. If you're interested in being a CSF officer, you must attend this meeting on March 5 @ lunch in the library to learn more about the role and responsibilities of each position and to begin the process of running for office. We hope to see interested members at the meeting.

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS: AP students will receive AP Exam Registration information starting TODAY.  AP Exam registration will start March 5th and run through March 16th, 1:00 PM.  Students may register before school, brunch or during lunch in the ASB office.  The fee for each test is $87, unless the student participates in the free or reduced lunch program.  Students can see Mrs. Schwamb in the Health Office to learn about this program.  Don’t forget to sign up!!!

NO LATE REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED

SENIORS

 

SENIORS! Have you submitted a Cal Grant Verification form yet?  If you are going to a California junior college, 4-year college, or a vocational school after high school and you're applying for financial aid, you need to come to the Counseling Office and fill out the CAL GRANT VERIFICATION form.  It allows you to ask the state of California for FREE money to attend one of these programs.  YOU MUST mail the form by Friday, March 2nd.  YEP! TODAY!  You need to fill the top of the form out in blue or black ink (requires student's Social Security #) and then you must ask your counselor to fill out the bottom part.  Then you make a copy of it, and you take THE ORIGINAL to the post office, and mail it with a certificate of mailing.  Do not delay! You and your parent must also complete the FAFSA online ASAP in order to apply for financial aid. GO TO: www.fafsa.ed.gov
