GENERAL

 

DIFFERENT SCHEDULE THIS WEEK:  NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17

       NO SCHOOL MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20

 

CONGRATULATIONS to our boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams for their Foothill League championships.  As they venture into playoffs, they'll need as much support as possible. 

 

On Friday night, here at Canyon, our Varsity boys' team takes on Godinez at 7pm

and

On Saturday night, here at Canyon, our Varsity Girls' team takes on Redlands at 7pm.

 

Ticket are on sale at the ASB office for $5 for student and $8 for general admission.

AFTER SCHOOL CHEMISTRY TUTORING will be moved to Wednesday from Thursday this week due to the upcoming online homework assignment, chapter 12 test and long holiday weekend.  The Wednesday tutoring session will be held in Nelson's room, Room K-3, starting at 3:00 p.m.  Come to K-3 and get help on your UT (you tee) homework and test preparation so you can leave for holiday week end feeling great about your chemistry grade. :)

 

A GENTLE REMINDER FROM THE LIBRARY:

If you come to the library during class time, any class, you must have a pass from your teacher. Students without a pass will be sent back to class to get one. Students who visit the library during an open period, please be prepared to show your student ID that verifies your open period. Thank you for your cooperation!

 

ROP COSMETOLOGY: if you are a current Junior interested in participating in the ROP cosmetology program in the fall, see Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office. 

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office. 

 

THE CSF LIST OF SPRING MEMBERS IS POSTED IN THE LIBRARY. Stop by to verify your membership. For Seniors, confirmed life members and potential life members are also posted. If you are listed as a potential life member, please see me as soon as possible to discuss your current class schedule and membership status for this semester. Congratulations to all our Spring CSF members!

IMPROV:  Do you want to go behind the scenes of Gang Land?  Gametes? or Mathew Brodrick?  If yes, come to the critically acclaimed Canyon High Improv Show this Thursday from 6-8 pm. In the “Q” Theater for only 3 dollars!!!

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:

AP students will receive AP Exam Registration information starting on Thursday, March 1, 2012. 

AP Exam registration will start March 5th and run through March 16th, 1:00 PM.  Students may register before school, brunch or during lunch in the ASB office.  The fee for each test is $87, unless the student participates in the free or reduced lunch program.  Students can see Mrs. Schwamb in the Health Office to learn about this program.  Don’t forget to sign up!!!

LOST NECKLACE: It is a long, silver chain, with a square pendant.  On the pendant, is a capital "B" on one side, and a picture of my son on the other. If found return to Mrs. Silva in room F-2 or Mrs. Ruppert in the front office.

MEETINGS

 

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY has a general meeting at lunch Thursday, February 16th in C-7. We will be taking our yearbook photo, so please be prompt.

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB (and other board games of skill) meets TODAY in G-117.  Bring your lunch.

 

BOOK CLUB meets this Thursday @ lunch in the library. Stop by and check us out! New members are always welcome.

 

GSA (Gay/Straight Alliance) Meeting Thursday, Lunch A-Lecture Hall. We are honored to have special guest speaker,  Andrew Goldstein, joining us. Andrew attended Dartmouth College where he was an All-American Lacrosse goalie.  ESPN featured his story about becoming the first out athlete in a major Division I sport in an episode of their documentary series Outside the Lines. Now, at UCLA Andrew is making huge advancements in the battle to cure cancer.
