GENERAL
DIFFERENT SCHEDULE THIS WEEK: Wednesday, December 14---Late Start Wednesday.
Attention Students-TENTATIVE spring class schedules will be passed out on Wednesday (Dec. 14th) during 2nd period. Students will have three days (Wed., Thur. & Fri.) to request schedule changes. You may request a change for one of the following reasons:
I am in the wrong class.
I am missing a class.
I need to add a class because I am behind credits.
I already received credit for a class on my schedule.
Reminders:
(9th & 10th graders must have 6 classes on their schedules. 11th & 12th graders must have a minimum of 5 classes.)
NO teacher requests or brunch change requests will be accepted.
Schedules are NOT guaranteed. They may change in January through the first few weeks of spring semester when class leveling occurs.
Program Change Request Forms will be made available outside of the Counseling Office during both brunches and lunch (Dec. 14-16) and should be returned to the basket outside the Counseling Office by Friday, Dec. 16th. You may also email your counselor your schedule request during the three day period (Dec. 14-16).
PSAT RESULTS ARE HERE: If you took the PSAT exam, you may pick up your results in the Counseling Office today!
THE GOLD STAR BRIGADE MARCHING BAND Competed in the Camarillo Christmas parade on Saturday. They earned Sweepstakes in music, which is the highest score for the whole event in music, 1st place in Band, 2nd place in Auxiliary, drum major Katie Winter earned 2nd place and the band won the Walter Brennan Award, which is the award for the most outstanding band in the entire parade! Go Cowboys!
PLEASE JOIN THE BAND FOR A FREE WINTER CONCERT on Friday at 7pm in the gym. Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band will be performing. A few teachers will be joining us as well as alumni. See you there!
NHS, CSF, and Key Club students-we have another volunteer opportunity available to our members! Sierra Vista is in need of having some outstanding high school students come down and help out in the PE classes. You world work in the afternoons, and help out with a variety of classes on different days. Speak to your club advisor if you're interested.
HEY COWBOYS! Did you lose an electronic device or jewelry this semester? If so, please check with the Assistant Principals secretaries to see if it might be there.
WINTER FORMAL TICKETS are on sale for $70 per couple with an ASB Card and $80 without an ASB Card. Next week the prices go up to $80 and $90. Guest tickets are due before Winter Break.
THE HOMELESS SHELTER DRIVE is going on now. Bring any of these needed supplies to the library this week: plastic utensils, envelopes, coffee, tea, sugar, gallons of water, and draw string trash bags. Your donation helps Santa Clarita Shelter. Thanks for giving back to your community.
MUSIC ELECTIVE: Are you interested in Music Theory? Do you play an instrument or sing? Want to brush up your basic musicianship skills? If you answered yes to any of those questions, come see Mrs. Palmer in Q6 or your counselor to register for Music Theory next semester. The class will meet 5th period. All interested students need to see Mrs. Palmer on or before Friday, the 16th.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Attention all boys interested in trying out for the Volleyball Team, come to the gym at lunch on Wednesday, December 14, dressed in gym clothes.
HOLIDAY GRAMS: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO BUY A HOLIDAY GRAM: They are $2, and you get a card, candy cane and balloon. They will be delivered 3rd period on Thursday and Friday. See any ASB member to buy one!
WORK PERMITS: Students may apply for VACATION work permits at the:

During the following dates/times:
Wednesday, December 28, 2011, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Thursday, January 5, 2012, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
VACATION WORK PERMITS EXPIRE ON JANUARY 20, 2012
Student must be present to receive a work permit and must bring:
1) Request for Work Permit Form complete with employer and
parent signatures (available at the Administrative Center or
online at http://www.hartdistrict.org/index.php/students/workpermits).
2) Proof of Date of Birth (Driver License, Birth Certificate,
Baptismal Certificate, California Identification Card, Passport.
Student I.D. is NOT acceptable).
All vacation work permits EXPIRE 1/20/12. Students will need to reapply at their
home school site for a 2011/12 “regular” or “work experience” work permit after
school resumes in January.
Contact the Registrar at your school for Applications for Permission to Work in the
Entertainment Industry. These forms are not completed at the District Office
location.
Note: Private and home school students need a verification of enrollment/attendance
letter from school to apply for a “regular” permit.
It is not the intent of the District to jeopardize employment by delaying starting dates
for students. Please contact the District Work Permit office at (661) 259-0033, Ext.
231, if you need additional assistance.

ATTENTION SENIOR LADIES: The soroptimist club is offering a scholarship for young women with significant volunteer experience. The deadline to apply has been extended to January 15th. Please visit www.sigscv.org and look for the link to the Violet Richardson Award to apply.
