GENERAL

 

HEY COWBOYS!  This week we have NO school Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25.  Today, November 23, is a regular school day. 

 

THE 2011 BASKETBALL SEASON KICKS OFF TONIGHT WITH THE ANNUAL ALUMNI GAME.  The festivities kick off with recent alumni playing past alumni at 4:30, followed by the Girls Varsity vs. Boys' Junior Varsity at 6:00 and for the main event, the boys' Varsity will play perhaps the best Alumni team ever created at 7:30.  Admission is free, so come on out and enjoy a night of basketball. 

 

FOOTBALL FRIDAY ---CIF PLAYOFF:  Hey Cowboys come to Ventura High School

Friday, November 25, for a CIF second round playoff game---Canyon plays St. Boneventure.  Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m.  GOOD LUCK COWBOYS!!!!

 

BOYS VARSITY TENNIS PRACTICE 3-4:30 TODAY!

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office.  

 

PSAT: If you are a sophomore or junior who took the October 2011 PSAT at Canyon High School, we *may be offering a FREE PSAT Workshop for you and your parents at an evening meeting in December from the good people at Huntington Learning Center. If you or your parents are interested in this FREE Workshop to review and explain your PSAT results, please come up to the counseling office at your earliest convenience and sign the PSAT Workshop Sign-Up Sheet so we can get in touch with you for this opportunity. Sign-ups will be from November 16 - 23 in the Counseling office. * This meeting will only be held if we have enough students sign up to warrant its occurrence.

DODGE BALL SIGNUPS! Dodge, duck, dive, dodge!  Dodgeball sign up are occurring this week during both brunches and at lunch in C-5 and G-116.  All are welcome! 

 

BASEBALL TRYOUTS will be held at 3:15 on November 28th and 29th.  See Coach Schulhofer in room B-5 for more information.

 

WONDERING WHAT KIND OF CAREER TO PURSUE IN THE FUTURE?  Do a job shadow at a local business and learn what a job is like firsthand.  There are opportunities to shadow in many different industries like engineering, law enforcement, machinists, marketing, sales, law, publishing, physical therapy, and more.  Contact Pam Malowe at the district office if you’re interested. HART DISTRICT STUDENTS: Nissan Car Giveaway 2011-2012 school year.  To all 10th, 11th and 12th grade students.  If you maintain a 2.0 average and attend school at least 97% of the time with a positive behavior on campus, you could be eligible to win a car!  All eligible students will be notified in April with the details of the drawing.  KEEP WORKING HARD!!!!!

SENIORS

 

DIPLOMA NAME FORMS:  If you did not receive the Diploma Name Form in your Govt. or Econ class, please pick one up from Mrs. Hettema in the Counseling Office.  Please complete, and return to Mrs. Hettema as soon as possible.  This will help to insure the correct spelling of your name on your diploma.

 

SENIORS:  Are you applying to a CSU Campus? Check your EAP Test results!

The Early Assessment Program (EAP) test results can help you avoid the CSU placement test requirement so you can take college-level English and math classes your first year in college.

You took the test.  Now make it count!
