GENERAL

 

DIFFERENT SCHEDULE FOR THE UPCOMING WEEK: Wednesday, October 26-Late Start Wednesday

 

HALLOWEEN COSTUMES:   Students, please remember that you are NOT permitted to wear masks or carry any type of "weapons" as part of Halloween costumes to school.  None.  Zero.  No.  Not plastic, not metal, not fake, not pretend.  None.   Thank you!

 

PLEASE join Leadership on WEDNESDAY in promoting awareness for LGBTQ bullying and wear a PURPLE shirt. Be the change you wish to see in this world--Gandhi.

 

STUDENTS if you still need to submit proof of your whopping cough immunization, please do so today.  Bring your paperwork to the health office.

 

THE LIBRARY is closed today during second brunch. Please make other plans for brunch.

HEALTH OFFICE:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office. 

 

HART DISTRICT STUDENTS:  Nissan Car Giveaway 2011-2012 school year.  The “All New Nissan of Valencia” is donating a brand new 2012 Nissan Versa and ONE lucky Hart District student will be the winner.  You will be entered into the drawing if you meet the following requirements: Dates of program: Oct. 24, 2011 –March 16, 2012.  Must have 97 % Attendance or higher.  GPA must be 2.0 or higher.  Can have NO out-of-school suspensions or expulsions.  Open to 10th, 11th, 12th grades. NROTC Scholarship Meeting TODAY in A-Lecture Hall from 12:30-1:00 pm.   

The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps is a scholarship that pays up to $180,000 for school. It is intended for Seniors and Juniors the application process should begin in their junior year, as the recipients are notified in the fall and winter of their senior year. The applicants must achieve a score of 1000 on their SAT or a score of 22(combined math and verbal) on their ACT. The way it works is the individual will attend school from September to June and during the summer they will be doing Marine

training.  Last year LA County had 8 recipients, one of them being from here Santa Clarita.

 

 

SPRING ROP CLASSES: If you're interested in taking an ROP class next semester see Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office.  ROP classes introduce you to a variety of careers, whether you are looking for entry level employment training, preparation for higher education or need additional credits.  Stop by the ROP office for more information.

                                        

STUDENTS REQUESTING OFF CAMPUS PASSES please bring a note from a parent and take it to the attendance office before school, at brunch or lunch to receive your permit to leave.  If you do not have a note...parents must call the office in the morning and request a pass.

Juniors and Seniors...most of you are through with school at lunch time... remember to make your appointments after  you have finished with your school day. 

 

MEETINGS

 

ANIME club is meeting today at lunch in G-220

 

OPERATION US: We will be meeting on Thursday October 27th at lunch in E3 to prepare for our presentation at Valley View Elementary School.

 

GSA, the Gay-Straight Alliance, will be meeting Today October 25th at lunch in the B-lecture Hall.  See you there!

 

BOY’S VOLLEYBALL:  Bring your parents to B-Lecture on October 27 at 7:00 p.m. for our pre-season meeting.  That is Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m.
