GENERAL

 

UTI-UNIVERSAL TECHNICAL INSTITUTE:  Any Junior or Senior interested in a career in Automotive Technology is welcome to attend a fieldtrip to UTI in Rancho Cucamonga on October 27, 8 AM-2:30 PM. See Mrs. Rincon in G-126 for permission slip. Space is limited to 20 students.

ARE YOU A FAN OF SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE OR MAD TV? Then come see Canyon's sketch comedy troupe this Friday at 6 PM in the Q-Theatre. Tickets are $2 a piece. Don't miss this night of hilarity!

 

DO YOU SEE THE PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES WEARING PINK, AND WONDER WHY?  Join American Cancer Society on Thursday and wear your pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Hundreds of thousands of lives are effected by breast cancer each year. Help American Cancer Society promote awareness and wear your pink tomorrow!

 

SPRING ROP CLASSES: If you're interested in taking an ROP class next semester see Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office.  ROP classes introduce you to a variety of careers, whether you are looking for entry level employment training, preparation for higher education or need additional credits.  Stop by the ROP office for more information.

 

 

CANYON'S YOUNG WRITERS GROUP: For two years running, young writers from Canyon High have won national contests and have been covered in major publications for creative writing. If you are interested in working with a writing group to develop your skills in all forms of writing, come to the Young Writers Group that meets in Room A - 5 every Wednesday at lunch.

 

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY:  Come pick up your new membership form from Mrs. Santos in D-6 or Mrs. Seidenkranz in D-2 by Friday October 14.  These forms replace the original ones distributed at our first meeting and are due back at our next meeting, October 20th.

LETTERMAN JACKETS: Dagan Sales will be on the outdoor stage Thursday, during lunchtime only, for jacket sizing. Forms will be outside the ASB office.

 

ATTENTION CSF MEMBERS and other service groups on campus! The Friendly Valley Jewish Community Center is hosting a dinner on Oct. 16 and needs some help setting up in the morning and serving the dinner in the evening. If you're looking for a service opportunity, contact Mrs. Hermelin in the library to find out the details and get the contact information.

JUNIORS!  It’s time to order for your class to order their class rings.  Your class ring will rank high in the commemoratives of your High School “2013” Graduation.

NROTC Scholarship Meeting on October 25th in A-Lecture Hall from 12:30-1:00 pm.

The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps is a scholarship that pays up to $180,000 for school. It is intended for Seniors and Juniors the application process should begin in their junior year, as the recipients are notified in the fall and winter of their senior year. The applicants must achieve a score of 1000 on their SAT or a score of 22(combined math and verbal) on their ACT. The way it works is the individual will attend school from September to June and during the summer they will be doing Marine

training.  Last year LA County had 8 recipients, one of them being from here

Santa Clarita.

ATTENTION S.O.S. MEMBERS!  There will be a very important meeting Thursday the 13th at lunch in room G 202.  Don’t miss out !  New members welcome!

ATTENTION COWBOYS!  Impact Club is having its meeting TODAY at lunch in room U-7.  Don’t forget to bring ten dollars if you are buying a shirt!  See you there!!

BRAINSTORMERS!  Remember our meeting and game, Thursday at lunch in D5!  We're hoping to see all you new members back with us!!!

 

SENIORS

 

CSU APPLICATION WORKSHOP:  If you already signed up for the CSU workshop, please bring a copy of your transcript with you to the meeting at 4th period today in the library.  No passes are required, but you will need to sign in at the workshop.
