STUDENTS REQUESTING OFF CAMPUS PASSES please bring a note from a parent and take it to the attendance office before school, at brunch or lunch to receive your permit to leave.  If you do not have a note...parents must call the office in the morning and request a pass.

 

JUNIORS AND SENIORS...most of you are through with school at lunch time... remember to make your appointments after  you have finished with your school day. 

 

MOCK SAT AND ACT:  Mock SAT and ACT-- Ok Cowboys- who's stressed out about SATs?  How about the ACT?  Good news- the AVID program is sponsoring a mock SAT and ACT on September 17th, here on Canyon's campus.  It's only $20 (which is almost $30 less than the actual test) and you receive a detailed score report that identifies the areas where you can really improve!  Stop by E5 to see Ms. Jones or register online at revolutionprep.com.  Hurry- space is limited!

 

THERE IS A NEW FINE ARTS, GRAPHIC DESIGN that just started in Room V-1 from 7 - 8 AM. Go to the ROP office to sign up.

 

HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO JOIN SAFE RIDES:  If you can volunteer one night a month you can save a life.  Come to the training THIS Saturday, August 27th --from noon to 5:00 at the City Activity Center by the Skate Park.  Check out all the information on the Safe Rides website  ScvSafeRides.com

 

CSFTODAY is the last day that Applications for CSF (California Scholarship Federation) will be available in the library. You can also access the application online through the library website. Look for the CSF link on the left side of the web page.

 

 

 

THE HART SCHOOL DISTRICT is hosting a free College & Career Fair on Wednesday, September 7th from 6:30-9:00 pm at West Ranch High School. All students and their families are invited to attend. Colleges and universities, career preparation schools, and learn-while-you-earn apprenticeship program representatives will be on hand to discuss their educational opportunities. Military representatives are also planned. Workshops on college admissions, financial aid and community college programs will run throughout the evening. ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS!!  Homecoming is right around the corner and we need all of the help we can get to make this year’s Junior Float the winner!!  For information, please contact any Junior ASB member or contact us by e-mailing [email protected].

 

ATTENTION ALL SOPHOMORES:  Want to be in this year’s homecoming float?  If so, sign up today.  You will find the sign-up sheet on the ASB window.  Our first meeting will be Tuesday, August 30.  Come join today. 

 

TEXTBOOK DAMAGE FORMS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER, 2nd.  Please return them to the textbook center by that date.  If you have misplaced your form, stop by and get a new one.  Any questions contact Mrs. Kulesz in the textbook center.

 

BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY meet at Sierra Vista Jr High at 3:00.  Come prepared to play soccer.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS:  To all prospective boys' basketball players, Tryouts for this upcoming season begin on Monday Aug 22 at lunch in the main gym.  The tryout schedule is posted in Coach Phillips room G-116.  If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by for clarification. 

 

                                                                                    MEETINGS

 

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB will have its first meeting in G-117 at lunch TODAY...bring your lunch, sign up and let the games begin!  Questions, see Mr. Clark in G-117.

 

OPERATION US will hold its first meeting in room E-3 at lunch on Thursday Sept.1. The members of Operation US go to local elementary schools to teach them the importance of showing respect to others and the dangers of bullying. This program has been at Canyon 16 years and is associated with the City of Santa Clarita. Come to room E-3 or talk with Ms. Mast or Mr. Ballard if you have any questions.

 

SENIORS

 

SENIORS: If you plan to attend a four year university after graduation you must submit SAT scores to your schools of choice.  If you have not taken the SAT yet, please plan to take the test on October 1st.  The registration deadline is September 9th.  Sign up as soon as possible!  To register, go online to sat.collegeboard.org/register.
