GENERAL
THERE IS A NEW FINE ARTS, GRAPHIC DESIGN that just started in Room V-1 from 7 - 8 AM. Go to the ROP office to sign up.
HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO JOIN SAFE RIDES: If you can volunteer one night a month you can save a life. Come to the training THIS Saturday, August 27th --from noon to 5:00 at the City Activity Center by the Skate Park. Check out all the information on the Safe Rides website ScvSafeRides.com
THE HART SCHOOL DISTRICT is hosting a free College & Career Fair on Wednesday, September 7th from 6:30-9:00 pm at West Ranch High School. All students and their families are invited to attend. Colleges and universities, career preparation schools, and learn-while-you-earn apprenticeship program representatives will be on hand to discuss their educational opportunities. Military representatives are also planned. Workshops on college admissions, financial aid and community college programs will run throughout the evening. CSF - Applications for CSF (California Scholarship Federation) will be available from TODAY to Friday Aug. 26. in the library. You can also access the application online through the library website. Look for the CSF link on the left side of the web page.

TEXTBOOK DAMAGE FORMS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER, 2nd. Please return them to the textbook center by that date. If you have misplaced your form, stop by and get a new one. Any questions contact Mrs. Kulesz in the textbook center.
GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS ARE TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY THIS WEEK AT LUNCH IN THE GYM.
BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS: Tuesday –Friday meet at Sierra Vista Jr High at 3:00. Come prepared to play soccer.
TENNIS TRYOUTS FOR GIRLS will be held Aug 19-Aug 24. All girls trying out for tennis will need to be at Fridays Aug 19th meeting/try-out at the tennis courts. Any questions see Coach Miller after school. tryouts will be from 2-4:30 on Friday and 2-5 next Mon-WED.
BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: To all prospective boys' basketball players, Tryouts for this upcoming season begin on Monday Aug 22 at lunch in the main gym. The tryout schedule is posted in Coach Phillips room G-116. If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by for clarification.
ATTENTION ALL SWIMMERS WHO WANT TO BE IN THE FALL SWIM CLASS.
Tryouts for the Fall Swim Class will be on Tuesday August 23rd, Wednesday the 24th and Thursday the 25th from 3:15-4:30pm. At the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center. You only need to come to one of the Tryouts Dates.
You must pass the Swim test of 100 yard swim in a time of 2 minutes or Less.
TRY OUTS for GIRLS SOCCER are TODAY and Wednesday August 24th from 2:30 - 4:00 at Sierra Vista
ALL MUST TRYOUT TO BE IN THE FALL SWIM CLASS!
This is just for the FALL SWIM Class. This is not the Tryouts for The Swim TEAM. They will be in NOVEMBER.
ROP - Come to the ROP office to pick up your first day paper showing where to go, when to be there, and any other information that you may need for your ROP class. If you have already signed up for an ROP class this fall, you must pick up your first day paper in order to be considered for priority enrollment. If you fail to show up the first day, you may lose your seat in the class.
ROP - Juniors and Seniors, are you thinking about taking an ROP class this semester, then stop by the ROP office to sign up. The classes fill up quickly so stop by as soon as possible.
JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Tier One has included Canyon for the third year in a row in a fantastic program they are offering to local public schools called “SAT Prep Classes for All.” For 5 weeks on Wednesday afternoons and evenings you can take two proctored exams by a skilled and specially trained SAT instructor, and learn how to score better on the entire SAT test (the Math, Critical Reading and Writing sections). The only fee involved in this program is $90 to cover the cost of materials that you get to keep. Classes from other companies cost between $500 and $1,000 elsewhere in California. To find out more about the program or to sign-up for this great opportunity, visit our website or pick up a flyer with all dates attached in the Counseling or AP office. You may also contact Tier One directly at (877) 209-9079. The deadline to register is Wednesday, August 24th. Classes begin Wednesday, August 31st for 5 weeks.
MEETINGS
ATTN THESPIAN SOCIETY: The first meeting of the year will take place this Thursday in the Q-Theatre at lunch. All members must attend.
SENIORS
SENIORS: If you plan to attend a four year university after graduation you must submit SAT scores to your schools of choice. If you have not taken the SAT yet, please plan to take the test on October 1st. The registration deadline is September 9th. Sign up as soon as possible! To register, go online to sat.collegeboard.org/register.
