CONGRATULATIONS to the ROP outstanding Students:  Sage Young, Tyler Sage, Susanna Kang, zJennifer Alonso, Kristy Morrisette, Kristen Rudolph, Clara Cisneros, Sarah Giesing, Elva Lainez, Brandon Spackey, Silver Medal Winner, Ryan Bernstein and Gold Medal Winner, Lizita Pineda. 

FOR JUNIORS - 2011 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards.  Applications are available on-line.  www.HispanicHeritage.org   Or call 703.871.4842.  Deadline is June 1st.  Juniors must have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino descent, be a citizen or US permanent resident, plan to attend college in the fall of 2012, must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, and willing to travel at your own cost to awards ceremony in your selected area.  If you want to see what the Youth Awards are about go to

SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS - If you would like to take an ROP class in the fall see Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office.  Classes fill up quickly and your name will be required to be on the list prior to the end of the school year to be considered for priority enrollment.  Don't miss out on that ROP class you've been thinking about taking.

ATTENTION JUNIORS:  The counseling office has received the 2011 California College Guide brochures and the NextStepU magazines which include helpful materials regarding colleges and preparing for your senior year.  Hurry in to pick one up as the supply is limited.

CHOIR AUDITIONS are coming next week!   On Wednesday and Thursday, May 11th  & 12th, choir auditions will take place in the choir room.  Have you always wanted to learn to sing?  Well here is the place that you can do just that.  Sign up for your audition on the list posted on the door to the choir room.   Come be part of this award-winning group!  You'll be glad that you did!

CANYON THEATRE DEPARTMENT PRESENTS the spring musical "Brigadoon." Performances are Wed. May 4th -- Sat. May 7th in the Q-Theatre. Show times:  Sat at 7 PM. Fri at 7:30. Tickets are $12 or $10 with ASB.

AVID APPLICATIONS-- The end of the school year is just days away, but there's still time to plan for your future!  Are you a freshman or sophomore interested in attending a 4-year university immediately after graduating from Canyon?  AVID could be right for you-- we'll help with tough classes, SAT prep, and even with college applications!  Stop by E5 for an application or to ask Ms. Jones a question.  Hurry- applications are due next week! 

MEETINGS

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB and other board games will meet in G-117 at lunch.  Bring your lunch, skill, enthusiasm and play/ learn the game of Kings and Queens.  Questions, please see Mr. Clark

SENIORS

HEY KEY CLUB SENIORS! If you want a sash, 15 hours are due TODAY ! Remember four semesters are required to receive a sash! Late hour sheets will NOT be accepted. Come to V-1 to check if you qualify.

HEY SENIOR COWBOYS:  Have you enjoyed your years at Canyon?  Will you be hard to forget?  Apply for the Canyon Staff Scholarship in room G-105 or the counseling office.

SENIOR SPEAKER FOR GRADUATION:  Any Senior wishing to audition for Senior Speaker for Graduation should sign up in Assistant Principals Office and pick up a speech/audition information sheet.  Please do this as soon as possible.  Audition sigh-ups will end on May 9.  Auditions are on the morning of May 11.  Sign up early to get the audition time of your choice!  If you have any questions, please see
